Description

PATENTED APR. 25, 1905.
F. J. KELLIHER.
REGEPTAGLE FOR HOLDING PASTE.
APPLIGATION FILED MAR. 4, 1904.
Hi I'IESEES Patented April 25. 1905.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS J. KELLII-IER, OF ALBANY, NElV YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE DIAMOND PASTE COMPANY, OF ALBANY, NElV YORK, A CORPO- RATION OF NEW YORK.
RECEPTACLE FOR HOLDING PASTE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 787,986, dated April 25, 1905. Application filed March 4., 1904. Serial No. 196,617.
To (II/Z 1071/0722, it lit/t7 concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANCIS J. K nLLniER, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the city and county of Albany and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacles for llolding Paste, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to receptacles for holding paste; and the object of my invention is to provide a paste-cup in which there is placed a removable well adapted to hold water. I attain this object by means of the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective with parts broken away, showing the cup with the water-well in position therein. Fig. 9 isa perspective view of the cup without the well. Fig. 3 is a perspective of the well.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The cup A may be made of glass or other suitable material and is provided on one of its sides with the undercut cleats B B, arranged to engage with the flaring sides of the plate C, attached to or formed integral with the well I). For the purpose of assisting in lifting well D, I preferably cut out a portion of the side of the well, forming a shoulder, as shown at E, by means of which a finger may engage the well. \Vater may be placed in the well and then the well put in the paste-cup in the position shown in Fig. 1, where the cleats B B engage with the edges of the plate C, which edges project beneath the undercut edges of the cleats, and the well is held is position in contact with the side of the paste-cup.
It is very convenient in using paste to have Water into which the brush may be placed to keep it pliable and also for the purpose of moistening the paste to make it spread properly.
I do not wish to limit myself to the construction of the plate C on the well I), as shown, since any suitable projection or tongue placed on the side of the well which would engage the cleats B B would answer the same purpose.
I am aware that many paste-receptacles have been used in which provision has been made for holding water within a portion of the paste-cup; but I do not know of any device in which a removable water-well has been arranged in contact with a paste-cup in such a manner that it will be held positively in position until the operator desires to remove it from the cup and then can be removed therefrom without diliiculty or waste of time.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A receptacle for holding wet paste, consisting of a paste-cup; undercut cleats arranged on the sides thereof; a water-well; a plate connected with said water-well, adapted to engage the undercut portions of said cleats; a shoulder formed on said water-well, by means of which the well may be removed from the pastecup, substantially as described and for the purposes set forth.
Signed at Albany, New York, this 2d dayof March, 1904.
FRANCIS J. KELLll-IER.
