PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES B. WV, SMITH, OF DALTON CITY, ILLINOIS.
WAGON-BOX.,
SPECIFICATION formng part of Letters Patent No. *779,627, dated January 10, `1905.
Application filed July 5, 1904. Serial No. 215.332.
To all whom, it Wtcy concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES B. W. SMITH, of Dalton City, in the county of Moultrie and State of lllinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wagon-Boxes, of
the bed when the'boards are slightly separated.
The gist of the invention consists in beveling the conjoining edges of the tiers of the box inward and downward, so that a moderate separation of the tiers will not raise the lowest part of an upper board above the highest part of the board beneath it.
In the drawings, forming part of this specification, the figure is a vertical cross-section through a wagon-box embodying my invention. Tiers of the box are shown at 1, 2, and 3. At 4 are shown the inwardly and downwardly nclined conjoining edges of the tiers, and at 5 are shown strips of metal which are preferably used to. strengthen the upper surfaces of the beveled boards. The side-boards and end-boards are beveled the same, allowance being made for the various ways in which end-boards, and particularly the removable section of the rear end-boards, are constructed.
I claim- A wagon-box composed of a plurality of separable tiers and havingthe conjoining edges of the tiers beveled inward and downward as and 'for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I sign my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES B. VVSMITH.
