PATENT OFFICE.
BARON E. IVES, OF OWATONNA, MINNESOTA.
SUPPORT FOR NURSING-BOTTLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 747,973, dated December 29, 1903.
Application filed February 27, 1903. Serial No. 145,379. (No model.)
To (ZZZ whom it may concern/.-
Be it known that I, BARON E. IVES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Owatonna, in the county of Steele and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supports for Nursing-Bottles, of which the followingis a specification.
This' invention relates to'new and useful improvements in supports for nursing-bottles; and its object is to provide a device of simple and inexpensive construction by means of which a bottle may be supported by and adjacent to a pillow.
The invention consists in providing a circular or oval base having a standard formed integral therewith and provided with an eye for the reception of the bottle. An inclined bracket extends laterally from the standard and is so shaped as to support the body of the bottle when the neck is in'position within the eye.
The invention also consists in the further novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, showing the. preferred form of my invention, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view showing a bottle supported in position beside a pillow,"
and Fig. 2 is a detail view of the support.
. Referring to the figures by numerals of reference, 1 is a circular or oval base, preferably formed of wire and having a standard 2 integral therewith and arranged at one end. This standard is preferably forined by twisting the wire, and one end of said wire is bent into an eye 3 for the reception of a neck 4 of a nursing-bottle. The other end of the wire forms an arm 5, which extends from the standard at an incline and is bent at the outer end thereof-to form a bracket 6, having eyes 7 at the ends thereof to prevent lateral movement of the body 8 of the nursing-bottle after the same has been placed in position upon the bracket. The support is held in position by inserting it under the pillow and within the pillow-case, and the standard is thus brought to position at one side of the pillow. The neck 4 of the nursing-bottlemay be inserted through the eye 3, and said bottle will be held at an incline by the bracket 6, upon which it rests. It will be seen that the device is extremely simple and can be readily formed from one piece of wire.
In the foregoing description I have shown the preferred form of my invention; butI do not limit myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be-made therein without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof, and I therefore reserve the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of my invention.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new isv In a support of the character described, the combination with'a base adapted to be inserted between a pillow and its case; of a standard upon the base, a bottle-neck-holding device at the end of the standard, an arm extending from the standard at an incline, and a bracket at the outer end of said arm.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence oftwo witnesses.
BARON E. IVES.
