Be it known that I, JACOB BROBST, a citizen i of the United States, residing at South Bethlehem, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Brackets for Shade-Rollers, of which the following is a specication. This invention relates to new and useful improvements in brackets for shade-rollers; and its object is to provide a device of simple construction which may be readily adjusted to rollers of varying lengths and which is constructed of the minimum number of parts.

To these ends the invention consists in providing a base-plate adapted to be suitably attached to the casing of a window and having a stem upon which is slidably mounted the supporting-arm of the bracket. To this arm is secureda spring adapted to project through a perforation Within the base of the arm and adapted to engage with one of several similar perforations within the stem of the base-plate.

The invention also consists in so constructing the spring as to permit the same to be readily grasped or operated by the hand.

The invention also consists in the further novel construction and combinations of parts hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, showing the preferred form of my invention, and in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bracketv stem is a base 5 of an arm 6, which is bent at,

right angles thereto. This base is provided with inwardly-turned edges 7, adapted to overlap the sides of the stem 3 and serve to retain the same in proper relation. A suitable aper- 5o ture, as 8, is formed near the end of the arm 6 for the reception of the end of the shaderoller 9. A lug 10 is formed upon one edge of the arm 6 and is bent outwardly at right angles thereto and adapted to project through a coil 1l of a springwire 12, the end of said lug being bent over the coil to prevent the same from becoming disengaged therefrom. One end of the spring projects into the arm 6 of the bracket, as shown, while its remaining portion is bent downward to a point below the lower edge of the stem 3 and thence upward to a point above a perforation 13, formed within the base of the arm, and is bent inwardly therethrough, as at 14, and adapted to normally engage with one of the perforations 4 within the stem 3 of the device. It is obvious that by this construction the arm and its base are securely fastened in position upon the stem. When it is desired to adjust the arm from or toward the end of the stem, it is simply necessary to bear outward upon the curved end of the spring projecting over the edge of the stem, which will thereby release the end 14 from engagement with the stern. The arm may then be slid hacker forth and the end llsprunginto engagement with either of the perforations desired.

By this construction I provide a device which may be readily formed from sheet metal and which is constructed of the minimum number of parts comprising a base and its stem, an arm and its base and lug, and a spring.

In the foregoing description I have shown the preferred form of my invention; but I do not limit myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and I therefore reserve the right to make such changes as fairly fall Within the scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
