CONRAD HARRIS AND PAUL ZOINER, OF CINCINN) Tl, OHIO.
Letters Patent No. 65,906, dated June 18, 1867,
CONVERTIBLE STOVE-DOOR AND FENDER.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: v
Be it known that We, Cosmo HARRIS and PAUL W. Zomnn, both of Cincinnati, Hamilton mum-01110, have invented a new antlusei'ul Convertible Stove-Door and Fender; and we hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,-and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification. l I
Our invention relates to a form of plate adapted either to serve as a fender to hide and shut in the ashes, or as a door to close the fire-front'of thestove.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a portion of the front and hearth of a stove provided with'our improved convertible door and fender. I
Figures 2 and 3 are vertical sections, showing our plate in its respective capacities of an air-tight door and of an ash-guard or fender. I
Our convertible door and tender consists essentially of two unequal portions, A antl 13, whose margins, a: and b, are at'right angles to each other. i I l Of these portions the part A is adapted to occupy at discretion either the vertical opening C of the firefront, or a horizontal depression, I), in the hearth; the portion B in the former case occupying a depression, E, in the hearth, and in the latter case closing the lower portion of the fire-opening sufficiently for the purpose of a fender.
A valuable peculiarity of our convertible door is that the same side is presented to view in each position, and consequently may be furnished with a convenient handle, F, and any suitable ornamentation, G.
We claim herein as new, and of our inventionv 1. The convertible stove-door and fender, substantially as set forth.
2. The arrangement of convertible door and fender A B F, and hearth depressions D and E, substantially as represented and described. I
In testimony of which invention we hereunto setour hands. 7
