UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN RAHN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SIGHT FOR BLOW-GUNS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 613,823, dated November 8, 1898.
Application filed May 6, 1898. Serial No. 679,947. (No model.)
To alZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN RAHN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, (Brooklyn,) in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sights for Blow-Guns; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to sights for blowguns; and the object is to provide a simple inexpensive device of this character that may be easily attached to blow-guns and which will serve as a means for directing the aim of the gun. V
With this object in view the invention consists in certain features of construction and combination of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved rear sight, showing it attached to a blow-gun. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the sight removed.
1 denotes the blow-gun, which may be of any well-known or approved construction.
8 denotes the front sight, and 9 the rear sight. The forward sight may consist simply of a pin or stud, while the rear sight consists of a plate or strip 10, secured to the tube of the blow-gun and having marginal inwardlyturned flanges 11 to form longitudinal guides. 12. Pivoted to the forward end of the plate is a bail 13, having a sight-notch 14. Connected to the bail by a link 15 is a sliding piece 16, the ends'of which are fitted in the longitudinal guides of the plate. By moving this piece forward or back the sight may be raised or lowered, as desired, to give it the proper. inclination.
Changes in the form, proportion, and the .minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificin g any of the advantages of this invention.
What I claim is 1. The combination with a blow-gun and its front sight, of a rear sight consisting of a plate having longitudinal guideways, a bail hinged to said plate and provided with the vision-- In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit nesses.
HERMAN RAHN.
