PATENT Fries.
HENRY FOVEAUX, OF WVAMEGO, KANSAS.
MOLD FOR FIREPROOF CONCRETE FLOORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 610,984, dated September 20, 1898. Application filed Jannary27,1898. Serial No. 668,141. (No as.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY FOVEAUX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wam ego, in the county of Pottawatomie and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds for Fireproof Concrete Floors; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in molds for fireproof concrete floors; and the object is to provide a simple, inexpensive, and efficient mold for this purpose.
To this end the invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of the device, as will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
The accompanying drawings show my invention in the best form now known to me; but many changes in the details might be made within the skill of a good mechanic without departing from the spirit of my invention as set forth in the claim at the end of this specification.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts of the invention in the severa views.
Figure 1 is a general perspective view of a fireproof concrete floor with my improved mold in position. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of the mold-sections. Fig. 3 is a transverse section through the fioor. Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section, and Fig. 5 is a bottom. plan view of one of the mold-sections.
1 1 represent the wrought-iron beams, and 2 2 denote the transverse tensile rods connecting the beams and which form trusses for the arches.
3 denotes one of the mold-sections. It is formed with an arched crown 4 and slightlyconverging plane sides 5 5.
6 6 represent parallel battens fixed on the lower horizontal edges of the sides 5 5.
7 7 denote adjustable cleats which engage the lower flange of the beam to hold the mold in place while the concrete is setting, being removably secured in place by means of the set-screws S 8, so as to be readily withdrawn after the floor is finished.
After the molds have been placed in position the fluid or plastic cement or concrete is then poured in between the beams and on top of the molds, which are arranged with the parallel battens of one mold in contact with the contiguous battens of the adjoining molds.
The auxiliary rods 9 9 are now placed in position in the concrete and the surface leveled oif with a sweep extending across the entire surface of the floor. After the concrete is set or becomes sufficiently hard the mold boxes or forms are removed and the arched surfaces finished off in the usual manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by- Letters Patent, is-
The arched mold 3 provided with the parallel battens 6 6, the cleats ,77, and the setscrews 8 8 adapted to adjustably secure said cleats in suitable slots in the ends of said mold, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY FOVEAUX.
