SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 610,600, dated September 13, 1898.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DAVID WV. DAVIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the countyof Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to improvements in toys,which will be hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim.

My invention consists in arranging one or more hollow balls having holes therein se cured on a string or strings in such manner that they will depend from a suitable handle, so that when they are whirled around the air will pass through the balls and make a musical sound.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the balls as they appear when in motion, and Fig. 2 is a sectional View showing one of the balls having a diaphragm therein.

A represents a hollow handle through which are passed two strings B. The strings are and. are adapted to be swung by the handle A by a slight movement of the wrist. They are started and swung in opposite directions, and the wind passing through the holes makes a musical sound. The sound may be varied by the introduction of a diaphragm E in the balls.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A toy consisting of two hollow balls having squared holes therein for the passage of air through said balls, the balls being loosely connected with the handle A by means of the strings B which pass through the same opening in said handle A whereby the balls may be swung in directions opposite to each other, substantially as shown and described.
