GARMENT-HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,332, dated June 7, 1898.
Application filed December 4, 1397. Serial No. 660,751. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LTHOMAS GERARD OWEN, of Newport, in the county of Newport and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and Improved Garment Hanger, of which the following is a full,clear, and exact description.
This invention is a garment-hanger capable of supporting trousers and coats, and especially adapted to hold trousers so that they will be stretched into proper shape.
This specification is the disclosureof two forms of my invention, while the claim defines the actual scope of the invention.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both Views.
Figure 1 is a front View of one form of the invention, and Fig. 2 is an edge View thereof.
The invention has a support or body 5, provided with a chain 6, by which it may be hung. Secured adjacent to each end of the. support or body 5 is a bracket, each of which comprises a bottom hook '7, adapted to support a coat or vest, and a top hook 8, having a curved inner face 9 running down to the body 5, and an outwardly-projected portion 10', the latter being adapted to carry a coat,vest, or the like,
like the hook 7. The curved faces 9 of the hooks 8 hold a cleat 11 they outer face of which is beveled to conform to the face 9, so that as the cleat 11 is pushed downward it will be wedged firmly against the body 5, thus clamping the trousers (indicated by the character 12) firmly against the body 5. In this position the trousers are hung so that they will be stretched into proper form and relieved of thewrinkles which are produced by use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A garment-hanger having a body and a THOMAS GERARD OWEN.
