.,UNITED STATES PATENT. OFFICE.
ISIDOR ROSLER, OF BERLIN, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO LEHMANN & MANN, OF SAME PLACE.
ACCU M U LATO R-PLATE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 604,418, dated May 24, 1898. Application filed March 10, 1898. Serial No. 673,416. (No niodel.)
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, IsIDOR RosLER, a subject of the AustrianEmperor, residing at Berlin, in the Kingdom of Prussia, German Empire, have invented a new and Improved Accumulator-Plate, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.
This invention relates to the construction of such plates for secondary batteries which are to be formed without the introduction of plastic material.
The object of the invention is to obviate the inconveniences effected by the stresses which take place in accumulator-plates as at present constructed.
The essential feature of the new accumulator-plate is that the continuous core is fitted with rows of webs wholly separated from each other and allowed to expand in every direction, so that no warping or distortion can be effected by the stresses of expansion'summed up for the whole plate. At the same time a surface of great efficiency is obtained.
The accompanying drawings show an example of the new accumulator-plate.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention, and Fig. 2 is aview of a section on line a b.
A continuous zigzag core-piece or plate k has formed upon either side of its surfaces a series or layer of triangular webs Z, with suitable spaces between them. Upon the opposite surfaces the opposing webs are placed a short distance below each other alternately on either side, and the contiguous webs on one side are arranged in a similar manner. The thickness of the webs decreases from the junction of the core-piece to the points. By this method of construction expansion in any direction is allowed for and no injurious stresses can take place.
I claim- An accumulator-plate, consisting of a continuous zigzag core-piece, the surfaces of which on both sides are fitted with triangular webs wholly separated from each other substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
ISIDOR ROSLER.
