0. P. LOUGHRIDGE.
MEAT HOLDER.
Patented May 26, 1896.
A rfomvns.
UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
CHARLES P. LOUGHRIDGE, OF NEVADA CITY, CALIFORNIA.
MEAT-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 561,008, dated May 26, 1896.
Application filed October 9, 1895. Serial No. 565,158. (No model.)
To all whom it may conoern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES PRESTLEY LOUGI-IRIDGE, of Nevada City, in the county of Nevada and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Meat-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved meat-holder which is simple and durable in construction, and more especially designed for conveniently and firmly holding a ham While cutting slices therefrom or when sawing the bone.
The invention consists of certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter, and then pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be hadto the accompanyingdrawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a plan View of the improvement as applied on a table. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same, with the table in section, on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a sectional side elevation of the improvement on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
The improved meat-holderis provided with a frame consisting of members A and B, of which the member 13 is adjustably held on the memberA, and the frame, when in use, is adapted to rest on the top of a table 0. The members A and B are made of metal plates and are formed at one end with downwardlyextending flanges A and B, respectively, adapted to engage the side edge of the table, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 2. The other end of the member A is formed with an upwardlyextending bend A adapted to engage the side of the ham placed on the frame, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 1, and from said member A extends rearwardly a slotted arm A engaged with the reduced end D of the shank of a pin D, riveted or otherwise secured to the inner end of the member B, the latter extending under the extension A, as is plainly shown in the drawings. The pin D is adapted to engage the shank of the ham, so as to prevent the latter from longitudinal movement, and also to permit of conveniently shifting the ham forward, to permit of cutting slices from the ham, a short distance to one side of the member A.
It will be seen that by the arrangement described the ham is securely held in place and the operator is enabled to conveniently cut slices from the ham without danger of the ham slipping or moving on the table.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A meat-holder, consisting of a frame composed of two adjustably-connected members each provided at one end with a down: turned flange or projection adapted to engage the side edge of the table, one member carryin g an upward extension adapted to engage the side of the ham, and the other member carrying an upwardly-projecting pin adapted to engage the shank of the ham, substantially as described.
2. A meat-holder, provided with a frame comprising two members, one member of which is formed with a downwardly-extending flange at one end and with an upwardlycurved end at the other extremity of the member, the other member being provided with a downwardly-extending flange and with a pin fitted to slide in a slotted arm on the firstnamed member, substantially as shown and described.
3. Ameat-holder frame, comprisinga member having one end formed into a downwardlyextending flange and the other end curved upwardly and forwardly, a slotted arm eX- tending from said member, a second member having a downwardly-extending flange, and a pin fastened on said second member and having a reduced shank engaging the slot in said arm, substantially as shown and described.
