KfLQKOS AN DR [W KGRNMM PHOTO-MIND WASH I?! GTON. 0 CV UNITED STATES PATENT 1 rricnr .TAC H3 E. \VENGER, OF BURTON CITY, OHIO.
BATHING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 553,046, dated January 14, 1896.
Application filed May 9, 1895. Serial No. 548,644. (No model.)
To (LZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB E. \VENGER, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Burv ton City, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bathing Devices; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, makin g a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which the figure is a view of the device, showing parts broken away to better illustrate the different parts.
The present invention has relation to hathing devices; and it consists in the different parts and combination of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the Claim.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the drawing.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents the lower tank or basin, which may be substantially of the form shown, or it may he of any other desired form, inasmuch as the ob jects hereinafter pointed out can be accomplished without any reference to the form of the tank. The posts B are arranged as illustrated in the drawing, and, as shown, their bottom or lower ends are connected together by suitable tie-bars a or their equivalents. The posts 13 are formed of a length to correspond with the height of the bathing device proper. To the top or upper ends of the posts B are attached the connecting-bars h, which connecting-bars are for the purpose of holding the posts in proper relative position.
To the top or upper port-ion of the bathing device is attached the tank 0, which tank is provided with the partition 0, said partition being provided with an aperture (1, said aperture being for the purpose of allowing water to pass from one compartment of the tank to the other one. Below one of the compartments of the tank (3 is located the chamber D, which chamber is provided with a suitable heatinglamp, such as E, said lamp being for the purpose of heating the water contained in the compartment of the tank 0, directly above the lamp. It willbe understood that for the purpose of cutting off communication between the two compartments of the tank a suitable stopper should be provided for the aperture d.
To one of the posts B or its equivalent is attached the pump 1*, which pump maybe of any desired kind or style, referencebeing had to the kind of work to which the pump is to be put. To the bottom or lower end of the pump is attached the hose G, which hose leads from the pump to the tank A.
To the nozzle) of the pump F is attached the hose g, which hose is formed of such a length that it can be extended from the nozzle of the pump to the tank C, as illustrated in the drawing.
From one of the compartments the tank 0 leads a pipe H, the outer end of which is provided with the spray-nozzle I, and for the purpose of cutting off the flow of water the pipe H is provided with the cut-off valve is. To the same compartment that the pipe H leads from the pipe K leads, which is provided with the cut-cit valve 7:1 To the pipe K is attached the hose L, which hose is formed of a length sufficient to be extended to anypartof the body, and its free end provided with a sponge, such as Lflsaid sponge being connected to the hose in an y conven ient and well-known manner.
In use a sufficient quantity of water is placed in the tank A, after which a sufiicient quantity of the water is pumped into the upper tank, and if desired it is heated, and the person desiring to take a bath steps under the, tank 0 and opens the valve 75', after which the sponge 73 can be used, or if a shower-bath is desired the valve 71: is opened, thereby permitting the water to flow through pipe H and the nozzle I.
For the purpose of removing the water from the tank A the hose 9 may be turned down, as illustrated indotted lines, after which the water is removed by means of the pump F.
If desired the device proper may be inclosed with suitable curtains, which ma y be attached in any convenient manner.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The combination of the tank A, the posts B, provided with the tank 0, located above the tank A, and provided with a partition, an
aperture formed in the partition, the cham- In testimony thatI claim the above I have her D, provided with a lamp, the pipes 11 and hereunto subscribed mynamein the presence K, provided with cut-off valves, a spray nozof two Witnesses.
