This muff is composed of an outer tubular covering A, composed of plush, fur or any other suitable flexible material, and an inner tubular lining A preferably composed of silk, the lining being stitched to the outer covering at the end of the muff, and a suitable filling X disposed between the covering and lining. The outer covering is provided with two correspondent circumferential flap extensions a, which are preferably integral with said covering and extend outward from the top seam a thereof. The covering and lining form a hand pocket open at both ends for receiving the hands. Two flanged purse jaws B and B hinged at their lower ends by means of pivots c are connected respectively to the flap extensions by means of clamping strips 0 and rivets a passing through said strips, jaws and flaps respectively. A purse. pocket P composed of sheep skin or other suitable material is attached to the purse jaws and extends between the flap extensions a. This purse bag is disposed entirelyabove the hand pocket of the muff and hence does not interfere with the placing of the hands within the muff or render the hand pocket uncomfortable as is the case where the ,purse bag extends down between the outer covering and inner lining. The purse is comparatively small, generally not more than one third of the entire-length of the muff,-and the entire structure presents a tasteful appearance and is very convenient in use. The jaw frames of the purse may be provided with any suitable fastening device as e.
The front of the muff may be ornamented, if desired, as by a bow For an animal head f, and the muff may be supported around the neck by means of an ordinary ribbon support such as F.
I claim as my invention- An article of wearing apparel embracing a connected muff and purse consisting of an outer tubular covering and an inner tubular lining forming a hand pocket, said covering having two correspondent circumferential flap extensions, pivoted purse jaws attached to said flap extensions, and a purse bag secured to said jaws between said flap extensions and disposed entirely above the hand pocket of the mufi, substantially as set forth.
