FOUNTAIN PEN.
Patented May 23, 1893.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.. l
HERMANN O. MLLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
FOUNTAIN-PEN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 498,213, dated May 23, 1893.
Application filed March 18, 1893- Serial No. 466,592. (No model.)
.To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMANN O. MLLER, of New York city, New York, have invented an Improved Fountain-Peu, of which the following is a specification. l
This invention relates to a fountain pen which is of simple construction and can be charged without the use of the filler generally employed.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is an elevation and Fig. 2 alongitudinal section of the fountain pen.
The letter a, represents the tubularink reservoir of the fountain pen which terminates at its lower end in the central nozzle d. Within the tube a, there is free to play a solid piston b, the rod b', of which is rigidly secured to the upper end of the piston and projects out of the contracted perforated back of the tube. To the upper or free end of the piston rod is secured a tubular case c, which telescopes the reservoir a. When the nozzle is inserted into an inkstand and the pist-cuis drawn up, the reservoir a, will be charged.
In writing, a pressure from time to time upon the piston will cause a proper feeding of ink to the lnozzle.
What I claim is- A The combination of tube ahavingacentral nozzle and a contractedy perforated back, with a solid piston, a piston rod rigidly secured to the upper end of the piston and projecting out of the perforated back, and a cap secured to the piston rod and telescoping the tube, substantially as specied.
