UNITED STATES PAT NT OFFICE.
PERCY A. SANGUINETTI, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
WINDOW-VENTILATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 450,256, dated Apri1 14, 1891.
Application filed April 5, 1890. Serial No. 346,703. (No model.) I
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PERCY A. SANGUINETTI, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in \Vindow Ventilators, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings.
My invention consists of a window-ventilator having a deflecting board, plate, or bar, which may be angularly adjusted for varying the direction and volume of air it is desired to direct into an apartment.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a portion of a window-ventilator embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a vertical ,section thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Referring to the drawings, A designates two grooved or channeled pieces, preferably formed of cast. metal, and rigidly secured to the side stiles of a window-frame and provided with a number of radial divisions D, forming a series of grooves or channels and having a foot G. A board, plate, or bar E is removably fitted in the channels or grooves D of said pieces A to form a deflector and the lower end thereof rests on the foot G. By means of said deflector the contents of air admitted below the sash maybe directed upwardly into the apartment without necessarily being blown upon a person sitting near the window. The deflector may be placed in either of the grooves or channels G of the pieces A, to thereby vary the angularity of the said deflector and increase or decrease the volume of air entering the window.
Inter-posed between the deflector and base of the sash is a screen F, for preventing the entrance of insects and dust when so desired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A Window-ventilator having end-pieces with a series of channels or grooves therein, and a deflector removably fitted therein and adjustable at varying angles, substantially as described.
2. A window-ventilator having stationary end pieces with aseries of channels orgrooves therein, a deflector removably fitted therein and adjustable at varying angles, and a screen interposed between said deflector and base of the sash, substantially as described;
3. A window-ventilator consisting of end pieces with a series of channels or grooves therein and feet at the lower portions thereof, and a deflector removably fitted in said channels or grooves and adapted to rest on said feet, substantially as described.
PERCY A. SANGUINETTI.
