CLAMP FOR MOLDING A COMBINED CURB AND GUTTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 458,915, dated September 1, 1891.
Application filed November 24, 1890. Serial No. 372,472- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL P. MCKELVEY, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Clamps forMoldin g Combined Curbs and Gutters, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a device for use in making concrete gutters and curbs; and my invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fullydescribed, and pointed out in the claim.
Figure I is a perspective View illustrative of my invention. Fig. II is a side elevation illustrative of the manner of using my clamp.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a gutter, and 2 its curb, which is made in situ of a suitable concrete.
My invention relates to an improved clamp by which these parts are shaped and made uniform. The clamp consists of a substantially-horizontal bar 3, having a downturned end at and a U-shaped head 5, consisting of two arms 6 and 7. To the end 4 is secured a strip 8, preferably by means of bolts 9 passing through the strip and fitting in slots 10 in the lower part of the end i. To the arms '7 a strip 11 is secured by bolts 12 passing through the strip and fitting in slots 13 in the lower part of the arm. To the arm 6 a strip lat is secured by bolts 15 passing through the strip and fitting in slots 16 in the arm.
In use the yoke, with its strips, is placed over the point where the sidewalk and curb are to be located. The concrete is then filled in between the strips, as shown in Fig. ll, and by adjusting the different strips the height of the curb relatively to the height of the pavement may be regulated.
More than one yoke may be secured to each set of strips, if desired, and any number of yokes, With their strips, may be placed in line, and by them a uniform curb and gutter can be quickly and easily made.
I claim as my invention- In a device for making combined curbs and gutters, a yoke consisting of a bar 3, ha"- ing a downturned end 4, head 5, composed of arms 6 7, and strips secured to the arms of the head and to the downturued end, substantially as shown and described.
