Description

UNITED STATES PATE T OFFICE.
I-IERRMANN HEYDER, OF REICHTI-IAL, GERMANY.
TOY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 439,297,1iated October 28, 1890.
Application filed August 11, 1890. Serial No. 361,656. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.- Be it known that I, HERRMANN HEYDER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Reichthal, in Silesia, Prussia, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Centrifugal Ball-Toys, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improved toy in which the end of a string is connected to a ball in such a manner that when the toy is .rotated the ball will become detached and fly other or free end of this string carries a tapering block 0, of wood or other material.
A is a rubber ball having hole B, through which may be passed the end of the string with the block. The opening 13 is of such a size that the block 0 will not pass through it excepting under strain or pressure. Oppoo site the hole B the ball A is Weighted, as at v E, to increase the centrifugal force.
In use the handle is swung to revolve the string and ball. As soon as the centrifugal power is sufficient, the ball will fiy ofi the block, becausethe block will compress the rubber around opening B and will force its way out of such opening.
The ball may be readily slipped back over block 0 by first turning the block around so that its contracted end is in front.
What I claim is 1. The combination of handle F, with string D, block 0, and with a perforated elastic ball A, adapted to be slipped over the block, substantially as specified.
2. The combination, of handle F, with string D, conical block 0, and perforated elastic ball A, having Weight E, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I hereunto sign my name, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 25th day of July, 1890. r
' HERRMANN HEYDER.
