UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN R. FLETCHER, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
WIRE HOLDER AND INSULATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 411,801, dated October 1, 1889.
Application filed March 16, 1889- Serial No. 303,543. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J OHN R. FLETCHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in \Vire Holders and Insulators; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in wire holders and insulators, the features of which will be fully hereinafter set forth.
The objects of my invention are to support electrical conductors along the ceiling or wall of a building and secure the same in a substantial manner and to effect a perfect insulation of said conductors. l attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure Iis a side view of the device. Fig. II is a central transverse section of the metallic frame.
Of the two views, like letters designate like parts.
The holder A is of cast-iron, having a longitudinal groove extending along its under surface and a boss at the top, in which is held the wood-screws, the metal being cast about the same. Holes centrally near the ends are threaded to receive the screwst t.
B and O are blocks of wood adapted to lie in the groove of the holder. A series of transverse notches uare cut in the faces of said blocks, and within these are held the wires. These blocks are thereby adapted to hold two or more wires, and the notches being made small the wires are firmly bound therein.
In use the holder is screwed into a joist or studding, the wires placed within the notches, and the two blocks are brought together and secured to the holder by the aforesaid screws.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat-- cut, is
1. As a new article of manufacture, the wire-holder comprising a body with a longitudinal groove to receive insulators and the screw an integral part thereof, and the binding screws t t, substantially as shown and described.
2. The metallic holder A, with groove and screw, in combination with the insulatingblocks B O, provided with transverse notches,
substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN R. FLETCHER. lVitnesses:
B. PICKEEING, SUMNER T. SMITH.
