COMBINED WRITING-DESK, DRAWING-BOARD, AND EASEL.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 401,440, dated April 16, 1889.

Application filed July 31,1888.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY L. KEITH, of Stockton, in the county of San Joaquin and State of.C=alifornia, hay e invented a new and 5 Improved Combined \Vriting-Desk, Drawing- Board, and Easel, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view; and Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the combined writing-desk, drawing-board, and easel folded.

The object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device that will serve as a writing-desk, drawing-board, and easel, and which will be capable of being readily adjusted for either of the uses for which it is designed.

cloth or leather, and the opposite side of the said board is'coated with a blackboard composition, The straps h are arranged relative to the board D, so that the rear edge of the board may catch under the lower ends of the side pieces, (I, when it is desired to use the board for writing purposes. When the board is to be used as a blackboard, it is lifted into the position indicated by dotted lines; or it may be used as a blackboard while in a horizontal position. Pins j are inserted in the body A, below the ends of the side pieces, (I, for supporting a canvas or board.

In the upper part of the body A, within the frame 0, are inserted hooks k for supporting charts or maps.

\Vhen not in use, my combined writingdesk, drawing-board, and easel may be folded up, as shown in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The combination of the body A, provided with board 0, secured to its front face, the board B, hinged to the back of the body, and the board D, pivotally connected to the body by straps h, and having its rear edge, when lowered into a horizontal position, resting under the lower end of the board 0, substantially as described.
