1 Claim, 5 Drawing Figures TOP 'rov DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a top toy.
Objects of the invention are to provide a top toy of simple structure, which is inexpensive in manufacture and provides interest, entertainment, pleasure, recreation and enjoyment.
in order that the invention may be readily carried into effect, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein:
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an embodiment of the top toy of the invention in use;
FIG. 2 is a side view of a top segment of the top toy of the invention;
F IG. 3 is a partly cutaway, partly sectional side view of another segment of the top toy of the invention;
the same reference numerals.
The top toy of the invention comprises a plurality of top segments 1, 2 and 3 (FIG. 1). Each of the segments 1, 2 and 3 is operable as a top and each segment has an accommodating device enabling it to spin on another segment while the other segment is spinning. Each of the top segments 1, 2 and 3 comprises a disc type member 4, 5 and 6, respectively (FIG. 1), and a stem 7, 8 and 9, respectively (FIG. 1), extending substantially perpendicularly to the member 4, 5 and 6, respectively, through its axial center.
The stem of a segment such as, for example, the segments 1 and 3, has a point 10 and 11, respectively (FIG. 1 at one end to enable operation as a top. The segment 2 has a substantially conical depression 12 and 13, respectively, at each end, to accommodate the point of another top segment. Thus, in the illustrated embodiment, the segment 1 has a point 14 at its other end and the segment 3 has a substantially planar surface 15 at its other end. Actually, however, each segment may have a stem having a point at one end and a substantially conical depression at its other end.
The top toy of the invention may be played with in a game in which the first segment 1 is first made to spin by a player. While the first segment 1 is spinning, the second segment 2 is spun by the player on the top of the first segment. The third segment 3 is then made to spin by the player on the top of the second segment 2.
The player who maintains the second segment 2 spinning on the first segment 1 attains 3 points. The player who spins the third segment 3 on the second segment 2 while said second segment is spinning on the first segment 1, attains 7 points. The first player to accumulate 20 points wins the game.
While the invention has been described by means of a specific example and in a specific embodiment, I do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvious modifications will occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
1 claim: I
l. A top toy, comprising a plurality of top segments each operable as a top and each having accommodating means enabling it to spin on another while the other is spinning, each of the top segments comprising a disc type member and a stem extending substantially perpendicularly to the member through its axial center and having opposite ends, the stem of a first of the top segments having a point at one end to enable operation as a top and a point at the other end, the stem of a second of the top segments having a substantially conical depression at one end to accommodate the point at the other end of the stem of the first top segment and having a substantially conical depression at the other end, and the stem of a third of the top segments having a point at one end for accommodation in the conical depression at the other end of the stem of the second top segment.

Claims (1)
