Fig. 2 Fi .3
CONSOLE FOR RECORD PLAYERS The present invention relates to a console for record players, in general, which comprises a bottom part and a frame forming side walls, a front wall and a rear wall, on which is a mountable covering cap accessible from the front side.
In order not to acquire a lifting of the covering cap for the normal operation of the device, which would be particularly cumbersome, if the console is arranged in a niche of low height, the front side of the cap is formed often for putting up, in order to make accessible the device for the normal operation. Many record players are designed such, that they can be used as automatic single players and also as record changers. The covering cap for such device should be of course so high, that also the operation is a record changer is still possible. With this arrangement the drawback is connected, however, what the usual niches does not suffice any more for setting the consoles with cover caps in view of a removal of the cover cap lowering their height for the purpose of cleaning of the device or for other reasons in particular, however, the covering cap looks also non-esthetic, so that a part of the producers of such consoles rather require from the user that he must remove the entire covering cap during the operation of the device as a record changer.
It is one object of the present invention, to provide a console for record players wherein the operation of the device as a plate changer under the cap is made possible even then, when the latter is lower as such operation requires normally, whereby of course also the advantages of a low cap are not permitted to get lost.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a console for record players, wherein the frame for the selective setting into two operating positions of different height is adjustably provided on the bottom part.
With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention which is shown by example only, will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1. is an elevation of a console with a cover cap;
FIG. 2. is a technical view of the side parts along the lines IIII of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3. is the same sectional view as shown in FIG. 2., however, in a different position.
Referring now to the drawing, the console for the record player comprises a bottom part 1, to which the record player 2 is elastically secured. This bottom part 1 is surrounded by a frame 3, on which rests a covering cap 4. On the inside of both side walls of the frame 3 is seamed a plate-shaped holding part 5 of synthetic material, which holding part 5 contains at the securing point a thinned section 6, which forms a pivot and which swings the holding member 5 elastically inwardly. The bottom part 1 contains two projection 7 and 8 of which the one projection 7, in the position shown in FIG. 2, enters a recess 9 of the holding part 5 and the other projection 8 engages a projection 10 of the holding part 5. By this arrangement the position of the frame 3 is determined relative to the bottom part 1 upwardly and downwardly. It corresponds with the position for the operation of the device as a single record player. For the operation a record changer, the lower edge of the holding part 5 is manually moved outwardly, so that the holding part 5 is free from the projection 7 and the frame can be lifted, until the holding part 5 with its upper edge II abuts a projection 12 of the bottom part 1 or until the recess 9 of the supporting member 5 rests into the projection 8.
The required height for a setting niches for the console does not vary by the lifting of the frame 3 with the covering cap 4, since the height necessary for the lifting of the covering cap 4 results from the height of the device mounted on the bottom part 1 (upper edge of the pick up) plus the height of the covering cap and both measures are independent from the previously mentioned height adjustment.
If the device is used substantially as a single record player, it can be put, if necessary, either into a niche, which corresponds just the height of the record player operation.
While I have disclosed several anbodiments of the present invention, it is to be understood, that these anbodiments are given by example only and not in a limiting sense.
I claim:
1. A console for record players, comprising a bottom part,
a frame including side walls, a front wall and a rear wall,
a cover cap received by said frame and accessible from the front side,
adjustable means for holding said frame on said bottom part in two selectable positions of different heights relative to said bottom part.
2. The console, as set forth in claim 1, wherein said adjustable means comprises a plate-like holding part pivotally secured on the inside of both of said side walls and extending close to the bottom edge of said side walls, as well as having a recess,
projections secured to said bottom part, elastic means bringing into engagement corresponding with the set height position of said frame said holding part with its recess with one of said projections.
