l-leretofore cooking pots, especially those used in outdoor cooking, have been made entirely of metal which is heavy and bulky if being transported and which is difficult to clean inside and out.
It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a light weight cooking pot' having a disposable liner.
Another object of this invention is to provide a compact cooking pot which is easily packed.
A further object of this invention is to provide a cooking pot which does away with washing the pot.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a cooking pot which works well on an open fire, camp stove or kitchen range.
According to the invention, the foregoing objects are achieved by a cooking pot composed of a bottom plate to which is attached a handle, a paper liner, a collar and ring which holds the paper liner in place.
The invention is more fully described in the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the component parts of the cooking pot; and
FIG. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the assembled cooking pot.
Referring now to FIG. 1 the pot is composed of a plate 1 having attached thereto ears 2 in which holes 3 have been formed. Ears 2 are indented at the upper ends to maintain U-shaped handle 4 in an upright position after hooked-shaped ends 5 of handle 4 have been inserted in holes 3. The plate 1 also may contain slits therein to drain off any overflow from the pot. In assembling the cooker the handle 4 is passed through protruding portions 6 of collar 7. Collar 7 is slidable up and down handle 5 to regulate the size of the pot. Once having decided upon the pot size the paper liner 8 is inserted within the collar 7 so that it rests on plate 1 and expansible ring 9 is inserted within the collar 7 and paper liner 8. The expansible ring 9 holds the paper liner 8 against the collar 7. After the liner is clamped in the excess paper of the liner appearing above the collar is torn or cut off.
The paper liner may be molded from a 19 inch circle of 35 pound parchment which is readily available in the market place. The paper is dampened, on both sides and then formed into the desired shape within the holder. This type of paper in its flat form is easily packed and transported.
However, the paper liner can be made from heavy paper lined with plastic on the inside and treated with water repellant or covered with plastic on the outside, such as heavy duty butcher paper normally used for packaging meat. The paper pot is built on much the same order as a paper party cup but with straight sides and a somewhat larger diameter. The remaining components of the pot may be made of metal.
In utilizing the pot it is necessary that the moisture line in the pot be above the bottom of the collar. Without the moisture line being so positioned the pot will be consumed.
What I claim is:
l. A light weight cooking pot comprising a bottom plate, a handle attached to said bottom plate, a collar slidably mounted on said handle, a paper liner positioned within said collar and an expansible ring to secure said liner against the interior of said collar.
2. The cooking pot of claim 1 wherein said bottom plate has ears extending therefrom having holes therein and to which said handle is attached.
3. The cooking pot of claim 1 wherein said collar has protrusions therefrom through which said handle is passed and by which said collar is slidably mounted on said handle.
Claims (3)
