Abstract

A pre-fabricated fireplace adaptable for assembly about an existing vertical column, the device consisting of an inverted conical base, and a conical hood, both of which clamp about a vertical column, together with grate supporting structure and an internal shield for the hood. A circular curtain screen is hung from the hood over the base and the exhaust pipe may be mounted concentrically about the support post.

I claim:

1. A circular fireplace unit adaptable for mounting about an existing vertical column closed at its upper and lower ends, as a means of decorating and concealing the column, comprising a hood of sheet metal formed in the shape of a truncated cone, and a base base member to a vertical column, said hood and base members each initially formed with an open radial seam, together with locking means to close said open seam of each member after mounting about a vertical column.

Claims

1. A circular fireplace unit adaptable for mounting about an existing vertical column closed at its upper and lower ends, as a means of decorating and concealing the column, comprising a hood of sheet metal formed in the shape of a truncated cone, and a base section formed of sheet metal in the form of an inverted truncated cone, with means to clamp both hood and base member to a vertical column, said hood and base members each initially formed with an open radial seam, together with locking means to close said open seam of each member after mounting about a vertical column.

2. The combination as recited in claim 1 together with an exhaust pipe leading from the hood section, said exhaust pipe being adaptable to being mounted in a concentric manner about the vertical column to which the hood is mounted, said exhaust pipe initially formed with an open seam along its length.
