2 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures GERM PROTECTOR TOILET SEAT COVER This invention relates generally to toilet seat disposable, tissue paper protective covers.
A principle object is to provide a disposable toilet seat cover that gives improved shielding against a persons body contacting the toilet seat so to prevent picking up any germs when sitting on a public toilet.
Another object is to provide a germ protector toilet seat cover that produces an improved three dimensional shape so to fit against the rounded inner peripheral edge of the toilet seat.
Yet another object is to provide a germ protector toilet seat cover that can be produced in individual panels or which can be made in long continuous length of sheets with perforations across so to tear off into individual panels. I
Other objects are to provide a germ protector toilet seat cover which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds. 1
To the accomplishment of the above and related objects, my invention may be embodied in the form illustrated in the accompanying drawings, attention being called to the fact, however, that the drawings are illustrative only, and that changes may be made in the specific construction illustrated and described within the scope of the appended claims.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention in tion for placement on a toilet seat.
FIG. 2 is a view ofa modified design of the invention made to be torn from a roll.
FIG. 3 is an enlarged detail view showing how the opening is torn open after the cover is placed upon a toilet.
FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken on line 3-3 of FIG. 1 and showing the central hole tabs depending downwardly into a toilet bowl.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the reference numeral represents a germ protector toilet seat cover according to the present invention wherein there is a panel 11 made of thin tissue paper material such as is used in the manufacture of toilet paper so that is is soft to touch and which can be readily disposed by being flushed down a toilet.
The pannel 11 is approximately square with a plurality of radial slits 12 extending from an edge of a circular central area 13 that is formed at the precise center of the panel 11 and which is encircled by a perforation 13a that will readily tear when the area 13 is pushed as suggested in FIG. 3. Thus the area 13 forms a button to be pushed. The radial slits 12 thus form generally triangular shaped tongues or tabs 14. It is to be noted that the slits actually cross the perforations 13a so to insure tabs to separate from each other after tearing of the perforation 13a. The slits are gradually longer one side (as shown at 15) and gradually shorter (as shown at 16) so that the radial pattern 17 of the slits is oval, as best shown in FIG. 2. Accordingly, the pattern 17 is closer posito an edge 18 of the panel 11 and farther away from panel edge 19.
Accordingly, in use, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the panel is placed over a toilet seat 20, the button 13 is pushed downward so to tear the perforated edge 13a, thus causing the tabs 14 to hand all around downwardly into the toilet so to form a central opening in the panel, the longer tabs at one end hanging lower into the toilet bowl than the tabs at the opposite end, as best indicated in FIG. 4. The tabs thus aid in preventing contact of a persons private parts with the inner peripheral edge of the seat. The longer tabs will reach the water during a flushing action so that the water pulls the cover automatically into the bowl after use, thus eliminating need of a person to do so manually with his hands.
The panel 11 may be marketed in individual sheets as shown in FIG. 1 and sold in packages. Alternately as shown in FIG. 2 they may be formed on long rolls 21 with transverse perforations 22 so that the individual panels may be torn off. Such rolls can be dispensed from suitable dispensers placed near a toilet.
Thus a toilet seat cover is provided which protects against contact with germs left on a toilet seat.
While certain novel features of my invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions, and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the ,art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. In a germ protector toilet seat cover, the combination of a one piece member comprising a panel made of toilet tissue paper material and which is of a size for covering a toilet seat when placed thereupon so to protect a person from contacting the seat with his body while seated thereupon, and thus being protected against any germs possibly left on said seat; said seat cover having a central opening formed by a plurality of radially extending slits from an edge of an off-center area of said panel so to form radial tabs which form said central opening, said off-center area accordingly resulting said slits on one side of said opening being gradually longer while said slits on an opposite side of said opening are gradually shorter in length, said off-center area comprising a circular portion bounded by a circular shaped perforated edge, said circular portion being of a size so that it can be pushed by a persons finger and thus rend said perforated edge so that said tabs are separated from each other for freely depending downward into a bowl of a toilet, said tabs formed by said longer slits being longer than said tabs formed by said shorter slits.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein said panel is formed on a continuous length of paper made up into a roll and which has equally spaced apart transverse perforations thereacross so to form said panels therebetween which can be individually torn off.
Claims (2)
1. In a germ protector toilet seat cover, the combination of a one piece member comprising a panel made of toilet tissue paper material and which is of a size for covering a toilet seat when placed thereupon so to protect a person from contacting the seat with his body while seated thereupon, and thus being protected against any germs possibly left on said seat; said seat cover having a central opening formed by a plurality of radially extending slits from an edge of an off-center area of said panel so to form radial tabs which form said central opening, said offcenter area accordingly resulting said slits on one side of said opening being gradually longer while said slits on an opposite side of said opening are gradually shorter in length, said offcenter area comprising a circular portion bounded by a circular shaped perforated edge, said circular portion being of a size so that it can be pushed by a person''s finger and thus rend said perforated edge so that said tabs are separated from each other for freely depending downward into a bowl of a toilet, said tabs formed by said longer slits being longer than said tabs formed by said shorter slits.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein said panel is formed on a continuous length of paper made up into a roll and which has equally spaced apart transverse perforations thereacross so to form said panels therebetween which can be individually torn off.
