Abstract

A two-way envelope that is particularly suitable for use with automatic envelope stuffing, or inserting equipment. The envelope includes a pair of panels joined by a common fold line which forms the bottom edge of the envelope. A foldable closure flap extends from the edge of each panel which is opposite said fold line. One of the panels has a pair of side flaps which are sealed to the other panel to keep the two panels in opposed relation. Both closure flaps are provided with adhesive, but one of the closure flaps initially is tucked into the envelope, without its adhesive being activated, and the envelope is sealed by the other closure flap. After the envelope is opened, it may be resealed by activating the adhesive of said one closure flap and applying it to the opposite panel.

Claims (1)

1. An envelope for two-way mailing, said envelope being formed from a one-piece blank and comprising: a. a front panel having side, top and bottom borders and having inner and outer surfaces; b. a rear panel also having side, top and bottom borders and inner and outer surfaces; c. the front and rear panels being joined together at their bottom borders about a first fold line and lying with their inner surfaces in opposed relation; d. the front panel being of substantially the same width and of greater height than the rear panel; e. a first closure flap joined to the front panel at the top border thereof, said top border forming a second fold line, the first closure flap having inner and outer surfaces, the inner surface having adhesive thereon; f. a second closure flap joined to the rear panel at the top border thereof, said top border forming a third fold line, the second closure flap having inner and outer surfaces, the inner surface having adhesive thereon; and g. a pair of side flaps joined to the front panel at the side borders thereof and folded over the outer surface of the rear panel, the side flaps being sealed to the outer surface of the rear panel to maintain the inner surfaces of the front and rear panels in opposed relation, the side flaps being located on the said side borders so as to cover the edges of the said third fold line, whereby the envelope may be closed initially by activating the adhesive on the first closure flap and folding the first closure flap about the second fold line down over the outer surface of the rear panel and sealing it thereto, and when received, the envelope may be opened by cutting along the second fold line and then closed for reuse by removing the second closure flap from its position between the front and rear panels and activating the adhesive on the second closure flap and folding it about the third fold line down over the outer surface of the front panel and sealing it thereto.
