B65d 5/50 U.S. Cl. 206--45.14 9 Claims ABSTRACT F THE DISCLOSURE An open face holder for a safety razor and blade magazine combination adapted to display clearly to view the razor and magazine releasably held therein, the holder being an elongated unitary single piece molded plastic member suitably shaped to hold the parts with the razor handle extending longitudinally thereof the holder including an opstanding wall at one end against which the razor head may engage, a support for the opposite handle end of the razor, an elastic clip adapted to releasably grasp the handle adjacent the head and a recess or well underneath the handle in which is supported the magazine with the handle adapted to prevent removal of the magazine when the razor is clamped in position, the recess being such as to support the magazine in a laterally inclined position under the razor handle thereby to expose to view a major portion of the top surface of the magazine unobscured by the handle, the plastic holder further having a pair of parallel supporting ribs or runners depending from the bottom extending longitudinally of the holder.

The prior art in general Containers for razor sets comprising a razor and blade magazine have been commonly employed for many years usually in the form of a covered box the cover being depended upon primarily to maintain the contents in the container. Such packages commonly are quite bulky requiring corresponding space in traveling bags or other storage spaces and furthermore present some inconvenience in removing the parts from the container box and restoring them after shaving with the result that the user often prefers to store the razor and magazine loose. Open uncovered boxes in which the parts are loosely stored have the disadvantage that, when used to transport the parts of course permit them to fall out and become loose in a travel bag for example.

The present invention The holder of the present invention comprises a simple compact inexpensive open top coverless article in which the razor is fully exposed to view and likewise to a major extent the magazine such that the brand name or trademark or other desired legends on the magazine are readily visible when the package is on a store shelf. A simple elastic clip means releasably holds the razor in the holder in a manner free from damage to the blade edge and the magazine is so positioned relative thereto that the handle overlies the magazine in a manner such as to prevent escape of the magazine without obscuring the major part of its top surface and any legendary and decorative matter appearing thereon.

The assembled article occupies small space on the shelf or carrying bag of the user and the razor and magazine are readily removed and replaced.

The foregoing characteristics and other advantages will be made more apparent from a consideration of a representative embodiment as disclosed in the accompanying drawings and described in detail hereinafter, the scope of the invention being defined inthe claims. In the drawings:

'Ihe holder illustrated comprises a single piece open faced body member which may appropriately be called a tray or a caddy. It may be composed of various materials but for light weight and economy is preferably of molded plastic such as in particular hi-impact polystyrene. As shown in FIGURE l the member serves as a holder and display article for a safety razor R and a blade magazine M. In the illustrated case the razor is of the common injector type and accordingly is accompanied by an injector type magazine and blade dispenser.

As general features the holder has a platform surface 11 which is flat over a large portion of its area but has depressions and upward vertical projections as will be noted shortly. Depending from the main platform area are a pair of ribs 12 extending longitudinally of the member 10 and serving as runners or supports when the member is placed on a fiat supporting surface. The body member has an end wall 14 inclined upwardly and outwardly against which the normally inclined head of the razor is adapted to engage. The outer ends 15 of the ribs at the end wall 14 are in a common plane and preferably inclined downwardly and to the right as shown in FIGURE 3 and are adapted to support the holder on that end of and when desired. The opposite end of the tray has an inclined end wall provided with a platform 16 located between two short vertical ribs 17 between which the end of the razor handle rests on the platform 16. The upper surface of the platform area adjacent end wall 1'4 has a transverse rib 18 against which the soap bar of the razor is adapted to engage. By the coaction of the rib 18 and inclined wall 14 the razor is held against longitudinal movement although the opposite end wall carrying the platform 16 may also serve to restrain the movement of the razor to the right in addition to the rib 18.

Extending upwardly from the platform surface 11 adjacent the head portion of the razor are a pair of opposed iingers 20 which because of the material em- -ployed are inherently elastic and are adapted to receive therebetween the handle of the razor adjacent the head. Insertion of the razor normally iiexes the fingers outwardly and when the razor is in fully inserted position ribs 21 snap into position around the razor handle releasably holding the razor in place. Preferably the fingers 20 have lugs 22 adapted to restrain the razor from lateral movement. The two inclined end walls serve to guide the razor longitudinally into its fully seated position.

The platform 11 has a well therein indicated at 25 adapted to receive the magazine M the well being shaped generally in accordance with the shape of the magazine forming part of the particular set. The razor depicted is of the injector type and the magazine or dispenser accordingly is provided with a tongue T indicated in broken lines at of FIGURE 5. The platform 11 is notched back at 31 and 32 as shown particularly in FIGURES 2 and 3, adapted to receive the normal blade injector slide member 33 (FIG. 5) in whichever position it happens to be, that is in the forward or fully retracted position. Underneath the platform portion 34 there is an opening adapted to receive the tongue T of the magazine. As shown particularly in FIGURES 4 and 5 the bottom wall 36 on which the magazine rests is inclined downwardly and forwardly as viewed in FIG- URE 1. As appears particularly in FIGURE 5 the razor handle portion overlies the magazine and holds it in position in its receiving well. Due to the relation of the parts the major portion of one side of the magazine is exposed fully to view in the assembled set and accordingly any designs or brand names of the set on the upper side of the magazine are in full view as intended to be indicated by the data within the boxed area 37 in FIGURE 1.

As appears particularly in FIGURES 3 and 4 the bottom area of the holder has an enlarged rectangular boss 38, the lower surface 39 of which is flat and in a cornmon plane with the lower edges of the ribs 12. This lower surface may be provided with a pressure-sensitive adhesive either directly thereon, or by employing a tape adhesively secured to the bottom surface with an outer pressure-sensitive adhesive coating, whereby if desired the holder may be releasably wall-mounted in a bathroom or other location.

Since various changes may be made in the holder shown and described herein and different embodiments of the invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is intended that all matter contained herein shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in ya limiting sense.

What is claimed is:

1. A holder and display article for a safety razor of the type having an elongated handle and a head extending at an angle transversely thereof, comprising an elongated open top Ibody member of single piece molded plastic, having a wall extending upwardly at one end against which the razor head is adapted to engage to limit the longitudinal movement of the razor in that direction, stop means to limit the longitudinal movement in the opposite direction, a supporting means for the handle end opposite the head, and a pair of spaced elastic lingers extending upwardly from the body member adjacent the position for the razor head forming an elastic clip adapted to engage the razor handle therebetween adjacent the head and releasably secure the razor in the holder.

2. A holder yand display article in accordance with claim 1 in which said stop means comprises a transversely extending rib against which a portion of the razor head is adapted to engage.

3. A holder and display article in accordance with claim 1 in which the inner surface of the wall at said one end is inclined upwardly and outwardly.

4. A holder -and display article in accordance with claim 1 in which said body member is provided at the side opposite to said open top with a pair of laterally spaced ribs longitudinally of the body member.

5. A holder and display article ffor a safety razor of the type 'having an elongated handle and a head extending at an angle transversely thereof, comprising an elongated open top body member of single piece molded plastic, having `a wall extending upwardly at one end against which the razor head is adapted to engage, a supporting means for the razor handle end opposite the head, a pair of spaced elastic `ngers extending upwardly from the body member adjacent the position for the razor head `forming an elastic clip adapted to engage the razor handle therebetween adjacent the head and releasably secure the razor in the holder, a recess in the top surface of the body member between said supporting means and said elastic fingers positioned and shaped to receive a blade magazine with the razor handle extending thereover.

A holder and display article in accordance with claim 5 in which the inner surface of said wall at one end is inclined upwardly and outwardly and is adapted to limit the longitudinal position of the razor in that direction, and further means are provided to limit the longitudinal movement in the opposite direction.

A holder and display article in accordance with claim 5 in which the bottom face of said body member is provided with a pair of laterally spaced ribs extending longitudinally of the member for substantially its full length, the bottom edges of the ribs being in a common plane for balanced support of the member on a hat surface.

8. A holder and display article in accordance with claim 5 in which said magazine recess is shaped to support the magazine in a position inclined laterally to one side with a major part olf the top surface of the magazine being exposed to view at said one side unobscured by the razor handle when the razor and magazine are in normal position in the member.

9. A -holder and display article for a safety razor of the type having an elongated handle and a head extending at an angle transversely thereof, comprising an elongated open top body member of single piece molded plastic, a support for the head of lthe razor at one end of the member with the handle extending longitudinally of the member to the opposite end, a pair of spaced elastic fingers extending upwardly from the body member adjacent the position for the razor head forming an elastic clip adapted to engage the razor handle therebetween adjacent the head and releasably secure the razor in the holder, a recess in the top surface of the body member under the normal position of the razor handle said recess being positioned and shaped to support a blade magazine therein inclined laterally to one side with a major part of the top surface of the magazine exposed to view at said one side unobscured by the razor handle when the razor and magazine are in normal position in the member bu-t the magazine being restrained from removal by the handle.
