Booker, 29 Woodbury Forest Drive, Hampton, Va. 23366 Filed Nov. 9, 1964, Ser. No. 409,721 Claims. (Cl. 206-405) This invention relates to a Commuter Ticket-Book Holder, and more particularly to a novel device for holding tickets or similar articles in a convenient and unique manner.
It is therefore an object of this invention to provide a novel, inexpensive, and convenient structure for holding a book of commuter tickets.
Another object is to provide a structure which alleviates many problems in handling commuter tickets.
Still another object is to provide a structure which is convenient for both its owner and for operators of collection stations.
With these and various other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction and operation as will be morefully described and pointed out in the specification, drawings, and claims herein submitted.
Itn the drawings, the various views illustrate the preferred embodiment as herein set forth.
FIG. 1 illustrates a top view of the ticket holder of FIG. 2.
FIG. 2 illustrates the invention in its preferred embodiment.
FIG. 3 illustrates a side view of FIG. 2.
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of FIG. 2.
In the assembly of the device, referring to FIGS. 1-4, the preferred embodiment of the invention, a base-piece 1, made of plexiglass or any other suitable material, is designed with a clip portion 1a on one side, preferably the left side, thereof to hold a book of commuter tickets. The commuter book binding portion can be slid in from the top or the bottom of the clip portion In so that the perforated edge of the tickets will fit directly under the right edge of the clip portion 1a. The spacing between the base-piece 1 and the end of the clip portion 1a is such that the commuter ticket book will fit snugly therebetween. This dimension is illustrated as dimension A in FIG. 1. This particular dimension may be varied by the manufacturer in order to fit the thickness of any desired commuter ticket book. The base-piece 1 may be made of a luminous material in order to facilitate its use during darkness or to locate the holder when located in darkened areas.
A sliding clip 2, made of spring steel or similar material, is connected to the base-piece 1 by means of suitable rivets 3 and 4, in a manner which allows the clip 2 to slide to an open position 2', or to a closed position. This clip 2 is located in a grooved portion of the base-piece 1 as is illustrated in FIG. 4. The function of clip 2 is to hold the tickets in place when the structure is not being actively used, and further to allow tickets to be conveniently removed from the structure.
A transparent identification holder pocket 5 is attached 3,315,799 Patented Apr. 25, 1967 ice to the base-piece 1 on the front side thereof. The size of the pocket is such that an appropriate identification tag or card 6 may be fitted therein. The information contained on the card 6 is not limited to the particular information illustrated in FIG. 2.
In the center, or approximate center, of the base-piece 1 is an attached magnet 7 which enables the ticket holder to be placed or attached in a more rigid manner to a metal structure such as the dash-board of a vehicle, Where it will be conveniently accessible to a commuter. The magnet 7 may be of any convenient size or design within the scope of this invention. The front side of this magnet 7 is preferably flush with the front side of the base-piece 1 and extends slightly behind the base-piece 1 as is illustrated in FIG. 4.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to secure of Letters Patent, is:
1. A ticket-book holder comprising a one-piece luminous base-piece and clip portion and having a slidably engaged clip attached thereto for holding tickets in the desired manner.
2. A ticket-book holder comprising a one-piece luminous base-piece and clip portion, and having a slidably engaged clip attached thereto for holding tickets in the desired manner, and containing an identification card pocket for holding appropriate identification means.
3. A ticket-book holder comprising a one-piece luminous base-piece and clip portion, and having a slidably engaged clip attached thereto for holding tickets in the desired manner, and containing a magnet attached to the base-piece for securing the structure to metal surfaces.
4. A ticket-book holder comprising a one-piece luminous base-piece and clip portion, and having a slidably engaged clip attached thereto for holding tickets in the desired manner, and containing an identification card pocket for holding appropriate identification means, and further containing a magnet attached to the base-piece for securing the holder to metal surfaces.
5. A ticket-book holder comprising a one-piece luminous base-piece and clip portion, said clip portion being of such design as to hold a ticket-book snugly on the basepiece, said base-piece having a slidable clip attached thereto by rivets to allow the clip to slide into an open or closed position, identification holding means attached to the base-piece for holding appropriate identification, and a magnet fitted into the base-piece and extending therefrom to permit attachment of the holder to suitable metal surfaces.

Claims (1)

1. A TICKET-BOOK HOLDER COMPRISING A ONE-PIECE LUMINOUS BASE-PIECE AND CLIP PORTION AND HAVING A SLIDABLY ENGAGED CLIP ATTACHED THERETO FOR HOLDING TICKETS IN THE DESIRED MANNER.
