Description

Dec. 27, 1966 H. ROSENFELD 3,293,783
GREETING DISPLAY DEVICE Filed Sept. 22, 1964 mum/muHlthnmu INVENTOR HENRY ROSENFELD & 14AM ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,293,783 GREETING DISPLAY DEVICE Henry Rosenfeld, New York, N.Y., assignor to Pride Creations, Inc., a corporation of New York Filed Sept. 22, 1964, Ser. No. 398,319 2 Claims. (Cl. 4061) The object of the present invention is to provide a greeting display device of simple character which, when a spring engaged section of a figure is depressed, a greet ing card will be displayed, so that the device will be marketed along with and in association with usual greet ing cards.
The invention will be described with relation to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a view in elevation showing the greeting element displayed by depression of a spring pressed lower member of the device;
FIG. 2 is an enlarged vertical section taken on the line 22 of FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a transverse section on the line 3-3, FIG. 1.
Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that the device consists of three primary elements, to wit: a head 1 which may represent the head of a girl, man, animal, or other figure in accordance with the nature of the greeting. The head 1 is supported in upright position by a rod 2 which, in usual employment, will extend downwardly and carry a guide disk or plate 3, having sockets for receiving legs 5, and feet 6, by which the device may be supported. Below the head 1 and apertured at 6x to permit passage of the rod 2 is a skirt member 7 which is normally held upright by a coil spring 8.
The skirt member 7 carries an upwardly projecting greeting card of plate-like form, indicated at 9. Inasmuch as the disk 3 is fixed to the legs 5, the pressure of the spring 8 will normally move the skirt member 7 upwardly, and hence the greeting card 9 will be projected within a cavity 10 in the head member 1 and concealed. Also when the skirt member is moved down against tension of the spring 8, the card 9 will be exposed, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
When the parts are assembled, a strap 11 will be ap plied to the lower end of the skirt member to engage the disk 3 when the article is impressed.
It will be understood that the elements illustrated in the drawings may be widely changed in form and appear ance without departing from the spirit of the invention.
"ice
Thus for two foot members, any suitable support may be provided, as for example, a single support to which the legs 5 may be attached. Also the greeting card can be fixed at its top end within the cavity of the head, and the skirt provided with the receiving aperture appropriate to the area of the card.
Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. A greeting card display device consisting of a head member having an aperture within it, a skirt member having an upwardly projected greeting card adapted to enter said aperture, the skirt member being formed with a cavity, a spring engaged abutment member in the skirt cavity, a spring within the cavity and imposing a force from said abutment to the skirt, legs carried by the abutment and at least one supporting member for the legs carried at the lower ends thereof, and a rod fixed in the head and projected through the latter and into the skirt, said rod carrying the spring abutment.
2. A greeting card display device consisting of a support, a spring abutment carried by the support at its top, a spring on the abutment, a skirt member encircling the support and the abutment and having a top wall receiving the pressure of the spring, a head member having a cavity open at its end, a rod connecting the head and the abutment, and a greeting card intermediate the head and the skirt and carried by one of said members, the spring normally moving said members into contact, and relative movement of said members so that they are brought apart, eflecting display of said greeting card.
