UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK A. WOODMANSEE, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
COMBINED INKSTAND ,AND CALENDAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 326,468. dated September 15, 1885.
Application tiled October 27, 1884. (No model.)
1' 0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK A. Woon- MANSEE, of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Combined Inkstand and Calendar, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an inkstand and calendar frame in which the calendar is located in the base.
My improvementconsists in the .construction hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is an under side view thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section on the line 3 3, Fig. 2. Fig. 4. is a perspective view of the lower portion of the pen'rack. Fig. 5 is a top view of a portion of the frame, showing the lower end of the pen-rack in section, the rack proper being omitted.
Z is a hollow base or body formed in one piece, of metal or other suitable material,
L and having a projection, Z, at front, a projection, Z, at top, openings A and O in the front, opening Bin the front projection, openings F in the top, opening h in the top projection, orifices d in the sides of the front projection, orifices d in the ends, and hangers G in rear of the front projection, and having orifices d. This base or body may be formed of sheet metal. I
Y is a pen-rack having a collar, Y, to seat on the top projection, and a 1 -shaped projection,f, at the bottom, by which it is locked to the base through the opening in the top projection. The rack is formed integral with a fiat open frame, Y, having horn-like projections Y for supporting pens and pencils, and braced together by scroll-shaped strips Y.
A beading, Z, surrounds the base at the bottom to add to the stability of the device.
D and D are rollers or shafts, journaled in the orifices d, and having cylinders b b, for carrying a day-number strip, B, in rear of the opening 13.
D is another roller or shaft, journaled at one end in an orifice in a hanger, at the other end in an end orifice, and carrying a dayname cylinder in rear of the opening A.
D is still another roller or shaft, journaled at one end in the other hanger and at the other end in the other end of the base, and
carrying a month name cylinder, 0, in rear of the opening 0.
D" are knobs on the rollers or shafts for adjusting them.
E are ink-wells in the orifices F.
The day-number strip may be of paper or other suitable material, and the day-names and month-names may be applied to their cylinders in any suitable manner by strip or otherwise.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. The combination of the hollow base or body formed with ink-well openings at top, day number, dayname, and month name openings in front of said ink-well openings, and hangers at the rear of the center opening, rollers or shafts journaled in the front projection, rollers or shafts journaled at their outer ends in the ends of said base or body and at their inner ends in their respective hangers, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination of the hollow base or body formed with day-number, day-name, and month-name openings in front, and hangers at the rear of the center opening, rollers or shafts journaled in the projection, rollers or shafts journaled at their outer ends in the ends of said base or body and at their inner ends in their respective hangers, substantially as set forth.
The foregoing specification of my invention signed by me this 25th day of September, A. D. 1884.
FRANK A. WOODMANSEE.
