As shown in FIG. 8, the casing member 6 comprises telescoping members '7 and 8, the latter having a straight slot 9 which cooperates with the spiral slot 10, see FIGS. 2 and 10. The spiral or cam slot 10 is arranged in a sleeve 11 retained in a casing 12. The upper end 13 of sleeve 11 is below a ring 14, see also FIG. 8. The purpose of this is to prevent slide 1S from extending beyond the outer end of casing 12 when slide 15 is at the upper end of its throw. Slide 15 has a cam follower or lug 16 which co-acts with Athe slots 9 and 10 to reciprocate the slide 15 when there is relative rotation between the members having these slots. The distance from the outer end of the casing 8 to the ring 14 for example may be a, the same as the depth of slide 15.
As shown in FIGURES 2 and 10, the base 18 of the shell 8 has a central hole 19, to admit the plunger or rod 20, When the parts are telescoped to push the cup 5 away from the magnet 21 which forms a part of the slide, being held in a brass cap 22, magnet 21 and cap 22 having aligned apertures indicated at 23 to admit the plunger 20.
As shown Iin FIG. 8, the base of casing member 8 has press-fitted thereon the cup 3l) which carries a flattened tubular extension 31 of metal which is non-circular in cross section, having a sliding non-rotary fit in an aperture 32 of corresponding shape in the base 33 of the casing member 7. As shown in FIG. 2, extension 31 houses the outer end of spring 54 which urges casing 12 and associated parts outwardly from casing member 2.
To permit the extension 31 to be assembled in and extend through the aperture 32, with limited sliding movement, extension 31 on its opposite flat sides 35 and 36 has struck therefrom fingers 37 and 38 which are ilexible and permit assembly of these parts, while acting as stop fingers to prevent pulling the tube 31 out Ifrom the aper-` ture 32. An alternative construction is shown in FIG.. l2 wherein the cup 40 is iixed to the base of the shell 41, cap 40 having three radial lugs indicated at 42 for sliding movement in corresponding slots indicated at 43. Movement of shell 41 outwardly is limited by the ends 44 of the slots, a movement in the other direction being limited by the spring 45, see FIG. 1l. Spring 45 .is mounted around the plunger 46 and urges the shell 41 outwardly as shown in FIG. 11.
