MEDICAL CO M POUND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.,302,l74, dated July 15, 1884.
Application filed May 8, 1884. (No specimens.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
- Be it known that I, SOPHIA M. TRACY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Deadwood, in the county of Lawrence, Dakota Territory, have invented a certain new and useful Medical Compound; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact descriptionof the invention, such as will enable others skilled in-the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention or compound has relation to healing remedies; and it consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz: two ounces of Peruvian bark,
(Oinolzonm) two ounces of wild-cherry bark, (-Pmmus Virginianm) two ounces of white-oak bark, (Quercus alba,) two ounces of whortleberry bark, Vaccini'mn rcsinosum,) one ounce of ealamus-root, (Calamus aromaticua) one-half pound of white rock-candy, and one gallon of pure whisky. These ingredients are all put together in a substantial vessel, well shaken together, then allowed to stand for several days say five days-.-then strained off ready for use. I prefer to use the dry barks.
This bitter is a tonic, to be taken internally, a table-spoonful at one dose, three times a day,
and is a remedy for all malarial diseases, for
nervousness, dyspepsia, and kindred complaints.
WVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described composition of matter, to be used as a tonic, consisting of Peruvian bark, (Cinch0na,) wild-cherry bark, (Pr anus Vt'rginianm) white-oak bark, (Quercus alba,) whortleberry-bark, (Vaccinz'am o'esinosmm) calamus root, (Calamus aromaticus,) white rock-candy, and pure whisky, in the proportions specified.
