1 Claim. (Cl. 240-10) This invention relates to ornaments particularly for use in the Christmas season, and in particular a decorated wreath having five equally spaced lights extended from the periphery whereby the wreath represents a star with the points defined by the lights.

The purpose of this invention is to provide an improved Christmas decoration that may be used in windows, doors, or on the outer surfaces of buildings and that is designed to represent a star or the like.

Ornaments, particularly as used in the Christmas season, are made of various designs and in numerous instances lights have been combined with ornamental designs. However, owing to manufacturing difficulties conventional tree ornaments using lights use a single light bulb and for this reason such ornaments have departed from the original star design.

With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a combination ornament and light assembly whereby the lights represent the points of a star.

Another object of the invention is to provide an ornament in the form of a wreath and having five lights, representing points extended from the periphery in which circuits to the lights are embedded in the body of the wreath.

A further object of the invention is to provide an ornament having a circular body with five equally spaced light bulbs extended from the periphery in which the ornament is of a simple and economical construction.

With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a circular body having equally spaced threaded sockets mounted therein and extended inwardly from the peripheral surface with wires embedded in the body and connecting terminals of the socket and with said wires extended and having a plug on the ends so that the wires represent a conventional electric cord.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:

FIGURE 1 is a side-elevational view of the star ornament illustrating a holly wreath design on a portion of the outer surface and having equally spaced light bulbs extended from the periphery.

FIGURE 2 is a side-elevational view of the ornament shown in FIGURE 1.

FIGURE 3 is a longitudinal section through the ornament showing a light bulb mounting socket with circuit carrying wires extended therefrom, embedded in the body of the ornament.

FIGURE 4 is a cross-section through the body of the ornament, taken on line 4-4 of FIGURE 1 showing a typical light bulb mounting of the ornament.

FIGURE 5 is a longitudinal section through a portion of the ornament also showing a light bulb mounting in the body of the ornament.

FIGURE 6 is a cross-section through a portion of the body of the ornament showing an exploded view wherein shells on the opposite surfaces of the body are spaced irom the body and shown in broken lines.

Referring now to the drawing wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved star States Patent ornament of this invention includes a circular body 10, circular in cross-section with semi-circular side plates 11 and 12 positioned against the sides and with internally threaded light bulb sockets 13 embedded in the body and positioned to receive light bulbs 14 whereby center terminals 1150f the light bulbs are in contact with a wire 16 extended from a cord 17 through an opening '18 in the body and wherein a wire 19 of the cord 17 contacts the shells or sockets 13 so that current supplied through the cord 17 lights each of the lights 14.

A semi-circular side plate or cover 11 is provided with spaced annular clips 20, which extend from the outer edge, and the clips 20 are positioned to snap over corresponding projections 21, on the section 12. The opposite or inner edge of section or cover 12 is provided with similar clips 22 and the clips 22 are positioned to snap or slide over corresponding ridges 23 on the inner edge of the section 11. By this means the two halves or semicircular sections of the side plates are retained on the core or body 10.

The outer surfaces of the sections 11 and 12 are provided with designs, such as the design 24, shown in FIG- URE l, and it will be understood that the circular body may be of any other suitable shape in cross-section.

With the parts positioned as illustrated and described the ornament is assembled by placing the light bulbs in the sockets and fastening, the semi-circular sections 11 and 12 over the core or body by the clips and ridges.

With the cord 17 plugged into a conventional wall socket or the like, current is supplied to the light bulbs and with the bulbs positioned as shown, the bulbs represent the points of a star.

The wire 16 of the cord 17 extends to the left in the arrangement shown in FIGURE 3, terminating at the point 25 and the wire 19 of the cord 17 extends to the right, terminating at the point 26.

The wirm 16 and 19 are positioned in a continuous annular slot 27 that extends inwardly from one side of the body 10.

It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made in the design and the arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is:

An ornament in the form of a Christmas wreath resembling a flashing star, comprising a circular body of solid construction and said body being circular in cross section, five light bulb receiving sockets embedded in said solid body and said sockets being arranged inwardly from the outer periphery of the solid body, electric wires arranged in said body and connected to said sockets, there being a continuous generally annular slot extending inwardly of one side of the body for receiving said wires, said sockets being equally spaced apart to correspond to the points of a star, a pair of covers semi-circular in cross section positioned against the sides of the body, and said pair of covers having interengaging coacting clips and ridges thereon, and the outer surfaces of said covers being provided with decorations.
