Description

April 9, 1963 H G. RAMON 3,084,458
FLOOR FINISHER'S STIL'IS AND FLOATS Filed April 25, 1961 m [5 INVENTOR. VII/Il/II/II/Il/III/IIIIIIII/IA Gil/V0 PHMOA/ A 7- roe/vs Y United States Patent 3,084,458 FLOOR FENTSHERS STILTS AND FLOATS Gino Ramon, 2317 N. Palmer St., Milwaukee, Wis. Filed Apr. 25, 1961, Ser. No. 105,480 1 Claim. (Cl. 36-1) This invention relates to improvements in floor finishers stilts and floats, and more particularly to a novel assembly of combination floor stilts and floats.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the type comprising two elements, one of which supports the knee and the other the toe of a user. I
Another object of the invention is to provide devices of the type which may be used either as stilts or floats as may be desired by the type of work in prospect.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a side view in elevation of an assembly of floats embodying the invention.
FIG. 2 is a view in perspective from above of the knee supporting element.
FIG. 3 is a view in perspective from above of the toe supporting element.
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary view partly in elevation and partly in section showing the detachable clip means employed in the shoe toe supporting elements.
Referring more particularly to the drawings the numeral refers to the knee-supporting float provided with the elongated knee cushion 11 and the straps 12 and 13. A float 14 has the raised frame portion 15. A transverse bar 16 is aflixed thereon by means 17 and '18. A shoe toe engaging member 19 has the frame portion 20 provided with the forwardly bent portion at 21 apertured at 22 and accommodating the threaded member 23 with handle 24. The member 23 is pivotally attached to the sliding jaw 25 adapted to retain one side edge of a shoe sole 26. The frame portion 20 is provided at the opposite side at 27 with the rectangularly formed retaining portion 28 adapted to releasably secure the opposite edge of a shoe sole 26 by means of the screw elements 29, 30 and 31. The frame portion 20 has at the lower end thereof 32 the hook member 33 provided with a spring clip element 34 for releasably engaging the transverse bar 16.
The float portions 10 and 14 are provided with a plurality of reversible pins 35 which may be inserted in the bottoms of said floats to project downwardly and raise the floats for use as stilts as in terrazzo work.
In use, the user will attach floats 10 to his knees by means of the straps 12 and 13. He will then attach the shoe toe clamp by use of the threaded means 23, 29, 30 and 31. He may then kneel down and engage the hook member 33 over the transverse bars 16 to be retained by spring clips 34.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A plate element adapted to rest on relatively soft plastic flooring material during the finishing process, a shoe toe receiving socket held vertically on said plate element to receive the shoe toe of a kneeling operator, multiple threaded means in said socket for engaging and retaining the shoe sole, and hook and clip means on the toe end of the shoe toe receiving socket for releasably engaging said plate element.
