3,081,331 EEABERDASHERY HANGER Earl B. Seeger, 2830 N. 447th St., Milwaukee, Wis. Filed Jan. 23, 1961, Ser. No. 84,154 2 (Ilaims. (Cl. 211-113) This invention relates to improvements in a hanger for mens haberdashery.
It is an object of this invention to provide a hanger which will afford a convenient means for assembling a plurality of items, worn by men, in a neat manner and which will display the items for ready choice.
A further object is to provide a hanger which will serve as a common place for assembling haberdashery items and thus avoiding placing them where they may not be easily found or in a place which may have been forgotten.
It is also an object to provide a hanger of the type herein disclosed which is inexpensive to manufacture, durable in service, and compact in requirement as to the space occupied by it.
Another object is to provide a hanger which may serve as a display for various items of mens haberdashery.
These and other advantages will be evident as the description progresses.
in the drawings:
PEG. 1 is a view in front elevation illustrating my invention.
FIG. 2 is a side view as seen on the line 22 of FIG. 1.
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
The broken lines in FIG. 1 suggest the various items which may be mounted on the hanger and are merely illustrative of the manner of use for which the hanger is adapted;
The broken lines 1 suggest four-in-hand ties, the broken lines 2 suggest bow-ties, the broken lines 3 suggest tie clasps, the broken lines 4 suggest cuff links, and the broken lines 5 suggest lapel pins.
The hanger comprises a flat, substantially rectangular, relatively thin sheet preferably made of a plastic material and having at its upper margin hook 11 disposed intermediate the side margins of the sheet and reinforced by a rib 12 on each side extending from a point within the upper area of the sheet and adjacent the margin of the hook to a second point within said margin.
As clearly indicated in FIG. 1, the sheet is provided with a plurality of apertures arranged in groups 13 and 14, and 16, 17 and 1S and group 19. The apertures of group Iii are preferably arcuate and have the lower margin serrated in order to resist sliding of four-inhand ties 1 in contact therewith when other ties of the same kind are inserted or withdrawn from the arcuate apertures.
Each of the groups 13 and 14 comprises five rectangular apertures disposed in vertically spaced relation to each other. Each aperture in the groups 13 and 14 is elongated in -a horizontal direction sufficiently to permit the clasp of a bow tie 2 to be inserted and clamped on the end margins of the aperture.
The circular apertures of the groups 15 and 16 are each beveled inwardly toward the center of the aperture and this beveled edge is slotted radially at four relatively spaced points 25, 2.6, 27 and 28. The resulting inwardly projecting tapered tongues 29, 30, 31 and 32 have a limited amount of resiliency which permits the insertion of the shank of a cuif button 4 under slight frictional contact.
The circular apertures of groups 17 and 18 are each of a diameter suflicient only to receive the shank of a lapel pin 5.
In addition to the foregoing described apertures, the hanger is provided on each side margin with a series of V- shaped grooves 35 and 36 spaced vertically relative to each other and below a horizontal line which extends beneath the rectangular apertures of the groups 13 and 14. These V-shaped grooves serve to hold tie clasps 3 in position.
It will be understood that the thickness of the sheet 10 should be sufficient to accommodate the clamps of the bow ties 2 and tie cl-asps 3 and to permit the anchoring buttons for the lapel pins 5 to be mounted on the pin shanks.
From the foregoing description and the drawings, it is apparent that I have provided a novel hanger adapted for the assembly of various items of haberdashery in a convenient place and arranged in a neat symmetrical manner and displayed with some satisfaction artistically.
Obviously the user of a hanger of the type herein disclosed can assemble his haberdashery where it may be conveniently found without the annoyance incident to promiscuous storage.
As will be apparent from the drawings the front and rear of the hanger present the same arrangement of the apertures and slots, the only difference in the outline being that of the hook 11 which will appear as reversed from that shown in FIG. 1.
Furthermore, the hanger herein disclosed is inexpensive to manufacture and its useful life will extend for a long period of time without need for repair or replacement.
I claim:
1. As a new article of manufacture, a haberdashery hanger comprising a unitary substantially rectangular sheet of plastic material having a hanger hook intermediate two of its parallel sides and an integral part thereof, said sheet having a plurality of apertures arranged in groups, the apertures of one group to be arcuate for the reception of fourin-hand ties, the apertures of a second group being elongated for reception of the clasps of bow ties, the apertures of a third group being circular in diameter and tapered inwardly and the tapered portion being slotted radially for the reception of the shanks of cufl? buttons, and the apertures of a fourth group being of a diameter suflicient to receive the shanks of lapel pins, said sheet further having V-shaped slots in said parallel sides for the reception of tie clasps, said arcuate apertures disposed intermediate said parallel sides and vertically relative to each other and said hook, said elongated apertures comprising two groups one upon one side of said arcuate apertures and the other upon the opposite side thereof, said cuff link receiving apertures comprising two groups below said elongated aperture one group upon one side of an intermediate vertical line of said. sheet and the other upon the opposite side of said line, said lapel pin apertures disposed on opposite sides of and between said line and said cuff link apertures, the apertures of each group disposed in vertical spaced relation to each other.
2. As a new article of manufacture, .a hanger for a varied assortment of haberdashery, said hanger comprising a unitary relatively thin-substantially rectangular sheet of material having adjacent one of its sides and intermediate the ends thereof hanger supporting means, said sheet having a plurality of apertures symmetrically arranged in groups relative to each other and to said supporting means, certain of said groups accommodating a type of haberdashery differing from that of others of said groups, said certain of said groups being arranged in equal proportions relative to each other and to said other said groups, one of said groups comprising a plurality of arcuate apertures disposed in superimposed relationship between and intermediate opposite side of said sheet and relatively below said supporting means, said arcu-ate apertures each having one side serrated and curved relatively away from said side having said hanger means, said equal portions of one of said certain groups being disposed on opposite sides of said arcuate apertures relative to each other and below a plane substantially paralleling the side of said sheet having said hanger means, the apertures of equal portions of said one of said certain groups each being elongated and substantially rectangular, said equal portions of a second of said certain groups being disposed below said one of said certain groups and on opposite sides of an intermediate plane disposed between said groups of said one of said certain group and intersecting said arcuate apertures and said hanger means, the aperture of said equal portions of said second of said certain groups being circular in diameter and tapered inwardly in transverse cross-section, the tapered portion of said apertures being slotted radially thereof, said equal portions of a third of said certain groups being disposed adjacent to and between said equal portion of said second of said certain groups and on opposite sides of said intermediate plane, said sheet having V-shaped slots in opposite sides adjacent said second of said certain groups, whereby four-in-hand 4 ties may be supported in said arcuate apertures, bow ties may be mounted in said elongated-rectangular apertures, cuff button shanks may be inserted in apertures having the tapered-slotted marginal portion, the shanks of lapel pins 5 may be inserted in the apertures of said third of said certain groups, and tie Clasps may be mounted in said V-shaped slots, all arranged symmetrically to offer a pleasing and convenient display of an assortment of a variety of haberdashery.
