2,893,672 BOTTLE HOLDER Ann H. Val-dan, North Sacramento, Calif.
Application June 4, 1958, Serial No. 739,928 4 Claims. (Cl. 248-1102) This invention relates to a bottle holder, and more particularly to a nursing bottle holder adapted to be worn on or supported by the person of the user.
A primary object of the invention is the provision of an improved holder of this character which is adapted comfortably to be supported over the shoulder of the user, which will hold a nursing bottle in an inclined position so as to be readily accessible to the mouth of the infant.
An additional object of the invention is the provision of a rear strap for such a holder angularly inclined relative to the front strap thereof which will rest between the shoulder blades of the user in the most comfortable position.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of such a device which is provided with means for adjusting the length of the front strap, whereby the length and relative positioning of the holder may be adjusted in accordance with the height of the individual, or the shape and position of the breast.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which is sturdy and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in operation and simple and inexpensive to manufacture and assemble.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an adjusting means in association with this device which includes no projecting or protruding parts which would be apt to entangle Ithe garments or hurt the skin of the user.
Other objects will in part be obvious and in part be pointed out as the description of the invention proceeds and shown in the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
Figure l is a front plan View of the device in the position as worn by 'the user, the person of the user being indicated in dotted lines, and certain concealed portions of the invention also being indicated in dotted lines.
Figure 2 is an end elevational view of the structure of Figure l shown as disassociated from the person of the user.
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the line 3 3 of Figure l as viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows.
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view taken substantially along the line 4 4 of Figure l as viewed in the direction indicated by the arrows.
Similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views of the drawing.
Having reference now to the drawings in detail, the device of the instant invention is comprised of a front strap and a back and shoulder strap 11, preferably comprised of plastic or similar material. The front strap 10 includes an enlarged lower portion 12, which terminates in an upwardly reverted arcuate portion 13, which is downwardly inclined as at 14, for the accommodation of a nursing bottle with the nipple 16 there- Of pointed downwardly. Coiled springs 17 are suitably secured at one end 18 to the edge of the upwardly turned portion 13, and at their other end 19 in a suitable aperrture in the enlarged portion 12 of the front strap 10. The inner side of the strap 10 is provided with a plurality of indentations which form shoulders 20, which are adapted for the accommodation of corresponding projections 21, struck from the forward face of rear strap 11. The forward portion of the strap 11 and the shank of the portion 10 are encircled by suitable strips or bands 22, which hold the projections 21 in the notches against the shoulders 20. The rear strap '11 is provided with a curved portion 23, which is adapted to rest on and over the shoulder of the user, and a rear portion 24, which extends downwardly across the back of the wearer to a position between the shoulder blades, the rear portion 24 being inclined relative to the front strap 10.
In the use and operation of the device, the bands 22 are first slid upwardly and downwardly respectively to permit the disengagement of the straps 10 and 11, and their associated recesses and projections 20 and 21, which projections and recesses are then suitably arranged to adjust the device to a desired length, and the bands 20 replaced in clamping relation, as shown in Figures 1 and 3.
The bottle is then inserted in the upwardly reverted portion 13, being held in position by the spring 17, and the assembly positioned over the shoulder of the user as indicated in Figure l, the portion 24 extending down the back of the user between the shoulder blades, and the front portion carrying the bottle seating either between the breasts or against the adjacent breast of the user in position where fthe downwardly inclined nipple 16 is readily accessible to the mouth of the infant held in the arms of the user.
From the foregoing it will now be seen that there is herein provided an improved bottle holder, which accomplishes all of the objects of this invention, and others, including many advantages of great practical utility and commercial importance.
As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept, and as many modifications may be made in the embodiment herein before shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted merely as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What is claimed is:
l. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a front strap having an upwardly reverted lower edge forming a bottle holder, said holder being inclined obliquely relative `to its length of the front strap and a front portion back strap including an arcuate shoulder portion and a depending portion and means for adjustably securing said front portion and said front strap together.
2. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a front strap having an upwardly reverted lower edge forming a bottle holder, said holder being inclined obliquely relative to its length of the front strap and a `front portion back strap including an arcuate shoulder portion and a depending portion, means for adjustably securing said front portion and said front strap together, said last mentioned means including a plurality of spaced coacting detents in the front of said front portion and the back of said rst strap, and bands encircling said front portion and said front strap to secure said coacting detents in engagement.
3. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a front strap having an upwardly reverted lower edge forming a bottle holder, said holder being inclined obliquely relative to its length of the front strap and a front portion back strap including an arcuate shoulder portion and a depending portion, means for adjustably securing said front portion and said front strap together, said last mentioned means including a plurality of spaced coacting detents in the front of said front portion andvv` the back of said rst strap, bands encircling said front portion and said front strap 4to secure said coacting den tents in engagement and resilient means for holding a bottle in said bottle holder.
4. Inl a' nursing bottle' holder, the combination of a front strap having an upwardly reverted lower edge forming a bottle holder, said holder being inclined obliquely relative ro its length of the front strap and a f. front portion back strap including an arcuate shoulder 10 portion and said front strap to secure said coacting detents lin engagement and resilient means for holding a bottle in said bottle holder, said resilient means comprising coil springs extending from the edge of the reverted lower edge and adjacent portion of said front strap.
