Description
(No. Model.)
J. CARR.
POOL BALL RACK. No. 286,114. Patented Oct. 2, 1883.
O @en Witnesses. nlenm.
A UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICEQ.
JAMES CARR, OF SYRACUSE, NEV YORK.
POOL-BALL RACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,114, dated October 2, 1883,
Application tiled Mayl, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMEs CARR., a citizen ofthe United States, residing at the city of Syracuse, iu the county of Onondaga and the State of New York, have invented a rack for pool-balls and a triangular case provided with teeth for removing the balls therefrom, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in racks for pool-balls and a triangular case with teeth to remove the balls from the rack; and the objects of my invention are to remove the balls from the rack to the table, ready for use in an expeditious and convenient manner. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanyingdrawings, in
whichM Figure l is a plan view ofthe rack upon the wall with pool-balls placed in different parts ofthe same. Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the triangular case or box provided with teeth and base-board. Fig. 3 is a vertical section of a part of the rack and case'or box, showing the operation of removing the balls from the rack; and Fig. 4 is a section of Fig. 2.
Similar letters refer to similar out the similar views.
The rack A is provided with the desired number of equidistant pegs or pins b b, with a slight incline upward, forming an angle to retain the balls O O, when placed in the rack during the progress of the game. The case or box B is triangular in shape, having bottom and side pieces with base-board a a., except upon one side, which has the teeth l to 8. The baseboard a (t extends up about one-half of the width of the side pieces, (see Fig. 4,) and keeps' the balls away from the top part of the side pieces, and the teeth are fastened to the side of the case or box equidistant and at a parts through Adecline to the bottom of the box.
The operation of my device is as follows: I take the case or box B and, placing the teeth below the bottom row of the pegs or pins, move it upward, and the balls are transferred from the rack to the case. (See Fig. 3.) I then place the rack upon the pool-table, and,
taking the triangular form used to arrange the balls upon the table, place it upon the case or box B, the edges of the form resting upon the top of the base-board a a and outside of the pool-balls, and then drawing the form forward over the teeth l to 8, I remove the balls from the ease or box to the table and they are set ready for use. The pegs or pins may be set at different angles or be left straight, with heads to retain the balls, and likewise the teeth may be at different angles or substitutes used therefor; but' I prefer to carry out the features of my invention in the manner shown, because simple and in every way satisfactory.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim isf I. The rack A, provided with the pegs or pins b b, in combination with the triangular case or box B, provided with the teeth l to 8, and the base-board o a, and the balls `b b, to
transfer the balls from the rack to the box, as
shownband for the purposes specified.
2. The equidistant teeth l to 8, attached to the ease or box B, in combination with the box B, the rack A, provided with `equidistant pegs or pins b b, and the balls C C, to remove the balls to the case or box fromv the rack, as shown, and for the purposes specified.
3. The triangular case or box B, having the teeth l to 8, and the base-board a a., in combination with the rack A, having pegs or pins!) b,
and the balls O O, to remove the balls from the rack to the box and table, as shown, and for the purposes specified.
4. The base-board a a, fastened to the sides ofthe triangular case or box B, in combination with the box B, having the teeth l to 8, the rack A, provided with pegs or pins b b, and the balls C C, to allow the triangular form to be placed outside the balls and remove them to the table, as shown, and for the purposes speci- Lied.
JAMES CARR.
