Description

June 24, 1958 o. BORUVKA TROUSER REMOVER Filed Aug. 15,1956 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 IN VEN TOR. B unuvxa :QTTURMSY M a U. L L y /;/H w 1 y Un d Swelhefi 7 This invention concerns a trousers removing device.
There are many persons sufierin-g from lumbago, backaches and various aiflictions'of the spine and sacroiliac regions so that it is difiicult or impossible for these persons to bend from an erect or sitting position. When these persons have to remove trousers or slacks it generally requires the assistance of another person. The conditions accompanying obesity lead to a'similar situation where bending to any eonsiderable extent from an erect position is: notpossible For such persons the need has long existed for a practical trousers removing device usable by both men-arid-women. i 3 l i e Itis therefore aprincipal object of the invention to provideatrousers' remover operable by a person wearing the trousers and requiring no. assistance frorn'another person. ItI-is" a furthe'r'objectto Rprovide a'tro'users remover or trousers jack provided with pedals and finger means for maybe drawn joff from the body while one'or .bothpedals aredepressedi Acjcording to thejinvention there is pr ovided a box of I complete the box structure.
Fig. 5 is a bottom plan view of the device viewed in an inverted position with bottom cover plate removed.
Fig. 6 is a sectional view similar to Fig.4 illustnating a modification of the invention.
Fig. 7 is an enlarged plan sectional view-of aportion 12f the modified form of the device taken on lines 77 of ig. 6. i
Fig. 8 is a perspective view of portions of the shank'and finger with rubber friction hoods or caps mounted thereon.
Fig. 9 is a perspective view of a pedal used in the device with a friction cover or hood mounted thereon.
Fig. 10 is a sectional view taken on lines Ill--10 of 9. v Fig. 11 is a perspective view of a pair of pedal shafts and an associated rod actuating pin employed in the modified form of the device. A
V The device as shown in Figs. 1-5 has a hollow box-like body formed by a generally rectangular frame 20 having parallel sides 21 with forwardly converging wall "portions 22. A fiatbottom plate 23 and top plate 24 serve to The plates are shaped to conform with the outline of the frame 20; Plate 23 is secured to frame 20 by. screws 19 threadedjin holes 18 in the frame. On plate 24 is secured achannel member 26; A bar 27 having an upturned finger portion 28 is slidable in channel member 26. Screws or bolts 29 serve to secure the member '26 to plate 24. Screws;30 secure plate 24 suitable shape having an upstanding'finger' fastened to the barhaving an upstandin'g finger portion shaped to conform with the finger on the front of the box. I The slidable ba'rrhasa depending shaft attached to a block-in the box;
A pair-of-pedals are pivotably mounted on a shaft which extends transversely into the box. The shaft carries a radiallyextendin'g pin arranged to move the block and slidable bar when a pedal is depressed. Springs or rubber bands return the block pedal is released. 0
When a pedal is depressed while the bottom of a trousers leg is disposed betwe'enthe upstanding fingers, thev bottomof the trousers leg is securely gripped and can-be removed fromthe leg of the wearer while the pedal istdepressed. "In a modification of S the invention, "means are provided to make the pedals independently movable,
- also friction pads, hoods or covers are provided for. the
upstanding fingers,.for the pedals,.and' for the bottom of the" box to increase efiiciency' of operation thereof- The device is usableby men and women generally as a valet accessory and may be. used'by able bodied' as well as disabled persons. 1: l i
For-further comprehension. of; the; invention, and. of .the, objects and advantages thereof, reference will behad to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in whichthe various novel featuresof the invention are more particularly set forth.

The innerlor rear side 33 of thisshank is shaped or gripping the bottorn'of a trousers legso that the trousers curvedto conform with the corresponding forward side' 34 of finger 28. Finger 32isfheldto the forwardend of the frame by a screw 35 on which'is threaded a nut 36; In plate 24 is a slot 37. Arod or shaft 38, as best shown in Fig. 4, extends from bar 27 throughthis slot-'and supports a block 40 for longitudinal movement .inthe box;
Rod 38 terminates in a liead'41I I A pair of fiat rectangular plates 43,- 4'4 -are disposed ouside thebox" at an angle to' plates"23""and '24; These plates are s'ecuredto a shaft 45 which extend-s transversely through the I box. A pair of springs 51, 52, as best shown in Figs. 4 and 5, are secured at one end to hooks 54. Hooks 54 are mounted in the parallel sides 21 of the box frame 20. The other ends of the springs 51; 52'are attached to books 55 mounted on the sides of block 40. The springs 51, 52 are biased so that the plates 43, are held in'the angular position mentioned above and shown in the draw ing, and rod 49 bears on edge 50 of the block; Plates 43, 44 serve as pedals which when pressed downwardly as indicated by arrow cause the' rod-49 to move the block forwardly untilfinger 28 touches finger 32. When the pedals are'released, springs 51, 52 return the'block 40 to its normal rearward position with bar 27 fully retracted within channel'member 26. i
A tab 58; is attached to the rear side 59 of the-boxby a screw: 61. This tab has an aperture 63 whereby the box may behung on a suitable hook orbracket when notin use. Thetab fits in a recess 64in rear wall 5930f frame 20... Plate 23 abuts the tab 58. I 1
