(Cl. 116-173) This invention relates to a flag kit and has for its primary object to provide an assembly of a flag, a sectional flagstaff, a container therefor, wherein the flag and the staff are protectively stored and from which the flag and the staff can be quickly and easily removed and mounted on a support, such as a wall.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the illustrated kit comprises a substantially channel shaped wall bracket 10 adapted to be attached to a support such as a wall, by fastening devices, such as a fiat headed screw 12, and by a round headed screw 14, which forms a stop for a staff supporting bracket 16. The stafi bracket 16 comprises a tubular socket 18 from which projects radially a web 20 carrying adjacent its edge remote from the socket 18 outwardly extending flanges 22 which, as illustrated, are adapted to engage in the flanges 11 of the bracket 10 to removably support the staff bracket 16 on a support to which the wall bracket 10 has been secured by the fasteners 12 and 14. It is to be noted that the web 20 of the staff bracket 16 diminishes in width toward its lower end so that when the staff bracket 16 is in place in the wall bracket 10 the socket 18 will lie at an angle to the vertical support to which the wall bracket 10 is attached.

Removably seated in the socket 18 is a lower end of a sectional staff 23. The star: 23 comprises a tubular lower section 23 having an open upper end 25. An internal flange 24 spaced below the upper end 25 of the section 23' defines a socket 26 for the reception of the lower end of the upper staff section 28.

The upper staff section 28 which is smaller in diameter than the lower section 23', is like the lower stafi section 23' of tubular formation and is provided with grates atent O ice longitudinally spaced openings 30 for the reception of suitable fastening means by which a flag can be attachably connected to the upper stafi section 28. A knob 32 is demountably fitted in the upper end of the upper stafi section 23. In the preferred form of the invention, the upper stafi section 28 is provided with openings .36 which align axially with the openings 30 to receive the legs 33 of split pin-type fasteners 40.

A flag designated generally 42 is provided adjacent one edge with a row of longitudinally spaced grommets 44 through which the leg portions of fasteners 48 are passed, as illustrated in Figure 4, so that the legs 38 of the fasteners may be passed through the openings 30 and 36 and spread away from each other, as illustrated in Figure 4, to secure the fiag 42 to the upper staff section 28.

In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figure 5, an upper stafi section 23 is provided with a longitudinal row of longitudinally spaced substantially circular recesses 30' for the reception of headed fasteners 46 carried by a flag designated generally 42 so that the flag may be detachably connected to the upper staff section 28'.

In order to protectively enclose the flag, the stafi, and the brackets, in unassembied condition when not in use, I provide a case or container, designated generally 48, which comprises an elongated tubular body 50 having a closed end and an open end 51 provided with a detachable cover 52.

While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed is: V

In a fiag kit, a flag stair" section, a flexible flag having a side edge, said staff section having openings spaced therealong, and fasteners connected to the side edge of the flag at points spaced therealong and separably engaged in the openings of the staff section, said flag having holes spaced along said side edge, U-shaped fasteners having bight portions engaged in said holes and bendable legs extending through the staff section open and spread way from each other.
