1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in the tooth paste dispensers and more particularly to a wall attached dispenser of this character.
An important object of the invention is to provide a container adapted to hold a quantity of tooth paste and constructed for attaching to a wall or other suitable support and providing a novel means in the bottom of the container for periodically dispensing a predetermined amount of the tooth paste.
Another object of the invention is to provide a push button operated dispensing means for a plunger working in a discharge spout at the lower front portion of the container and which serves to close the spout and to keep the spout clear from collecting tooth paste therein which might become hardened and. obstruct the dispensing opening in the spout.
A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construetion, which is neat and attractive in appearance, efiicient and reliable in operation, relatively in expensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective View;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view;
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view of the dispensing means taken on line 33 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on line i4 of Figure 2; and
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the plunger.
Referring now to the drawing in detail wherein for the purpose of illustration is disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention the numeral 5 designates a container which may be manufactured from a suitable commercial plas tic or other suitable material and preferably of rectangular shape and attached at its back to a wall or other supporting structure 6 by means of an adhesive coating (not shown) applied to the back of the container, or attaching the container to the wall by screws or other suitable fasteners (not shown).
The top of the container is provided with a filling cap or cover I and the bottom of the container is provided with a forwardly sloping chute 8 leading to a spout 9 formed at the lower front wall of the container.
The bottom of the chute ii is formed with a channel or groove H3 aligned with the discharge opening it in the spout and in which a plunger 52 is slidable. Plunger i2 is formed with a forwardly projecting reduced stem i3 at its front end closely working in the opening H of the spout, and the plunger tapers toward its rear end and is pivoted to the bifurcated rear end portion i i of an actuating rod i5 which is slidable in a guide it on the rear of the front wall of the container 5. A push button I! is secured to the front end of the actuating rod i5.
iuide i ii is formed with a chamber 18 in which a coil spring is is positioned bearing against a flange ill on the rod to hold the push button I! and plunger it in a forward position. Flange iii abuts a plug ill threaded in the front end of the guide i6 and in which the actuating rod i5 is slidable.
In the operation of the device the container 5 is filled with a quantity of tooth paste and re duced extension it on the front end of plunger l2 forms a valve which closes the opening in the spout 9 and is held in its closed position by the spring l9.
Valve i3 is moved rearwardly into its open position by pressing push button I! which slides the actuating rod is and plunger 12 rearwardly and allows the tooth paste to enter the opening H. Upon releasing the push button if spring is will slide the plunger I2 and valve is forwardly to dispense a predetermined quantity of the tooth paste through the spout and onto a tooth brush 22 held under the spout.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and. the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention, what is claimed as new 1s:
A tooth paste dispenser comprising a container having a V-shaped bottom formedwith a forwardly sloping channel at the center of thebottom, a discharge spout at the lower portion of the channel and projecting outwardly at the lower portion of the container, a plunger slidable in the channel and provided with a reduced stem having a working fit in the spout, said container having an aperture adjacent the spout, and push button operating means for the plunger slidably mounted in said aperture and projecting outwardly of the container above and adjacent the spout to extrude contents of the container from the spout, said push button operating means including a forwardly and rearwardly slidable rod having its inner end pivoted to the rear end of the plunger to retract the plunger to admit paste into the spout upon an inward movement of the rod, and spring means urging the rod forwardly and subjecting the plunger to its dispensing stroke.
