(01. 46158) This invention relates to dolls f the type having a, foundation body with a removable cover, and in particular a cover formed in sections with a body section split up the back and to the top of the head and joined by a separable fastener tape, and arm and leg portions removably attached to the body portion and having ventilating openings where the parts are joined.

In the usual form of doll and particularly where the body is formed of cloth stuffed with different materials the cloth covering becomes soiled and, because of the filling material, the cover cannot be washed or cleaned. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a removable substantially skin tight slip cover which, when soiled, may be removed from the body or foundation of the doll, washed or cleaned and replaced.

The purpose of this invention is to provide means for cleaning dolls with cloth and fabric coverings,

The object of the invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a slip cover for a doll so that the cover may be removed and replaced.

Another object of the invention is to provide a doll having a removable slip cover which is also provided with a removable hair foundation.

A further object of the invention is to provide a removable cover for a doll, particularly of the type having a filled 'oloth foundation, which is of a simple and economical construction.

With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a doll slip cover shaped to fit snugly over the body of the doll, around the neck and over the head with means for joining the edges together when in position, removable arm and leg covers attached to the body section of the cover and a removable foundation for hair, and the like.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing wherein:

arm covers I2 and I3, leg covers it and I5, hair foundations It and H, and a name band I8.

The body in may be formed of linen or other suitable cloth or fabric and the interior may be stuffed or filled with kapok or other suitable filling material.

The trunk or body portion is covered by a slip cover or tubular form IS with a head 28 on the upper end and with the head joined to th body portion by a constricted section 2| having darts or the like therein as indicated by the numeral 22 to draw the material inwardly to fit snug around the neck. A face is formed on the cover l9 and the cover is split continuously up the back from the lower end 24 to the top of the head at the point 25 and the edges are joined by a separable fastener 26 that may be covered by a tape flap, 2'! or the like.

The body portion I9 is provided with arm openmg; 28 and 29 and openings 39 and 3! are provided at the lower ends of the openings 28 and 29 respectively. The openings til and Si provide vents for permitting circulation of air to and through the filling of the body member If).

The lower end of the body section I 9 is also provided with tabs 32 and 33 with vent openings 34 and 35 in the sides thereof. A similar vent opening 36 is provided in the crotch whereby the complete foundation may be ventilated.

The slip covers I2 and I3 for the arms are formed, as illustrated in Figure 2 with openings 3'! and 38, respectively in the upper ends with hands 39 and M) on the lower ends and with the band l8 around the wrist.

The slip covers 14 and I5 for the legs are formed with open upper ends having slits 4| and 42, respectively in the sides which also provide vents and the lower ends are provided with feet 43 and M, respectively which may have soles 45 and 46 stitched thereto or painted thereon. The feet may also have straps thereon as indicated by the numerals 4'! and 48.

The head portion 2|) of the body cover I 9 is provided with snap fasteners 49 and similar fasteners 50 and 51 may be provided on the edges of the hair foundations I 6 and II, respectively, whereby the foundations may readily be attached to the head. The hair foundations may be formed of muslin or hair may be tied or secured thereto.

The arm covers l2 and I3 are slipped over the arms and the inner ends, and also the inner ends of the leg covers l4 and I5 are 'removably attached to the body section H! by suitable means. In the design shown in Figure 5 the arm covers are secured to the body by stitches 52 and the legs are secured by stitches 53.

With the parts arranged in this manner a doll body slip cover is supplied with the foundation l0 and when the cover is soiled it is removed, washed, and replaced or should parts be worn the cover may be repaired or replaced by new parts.

It will be understood that modifications may be made in the design rand. iftrrangement oi the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimediis:

'1. A.doll body slip .cover comprising a cover for the trunk and head of a doll, said cover being split down the back, separable means joining the edges of the cover down the back, said cover having armholes and said cover further being open at the bottom and having wedge shaped slits extending upwardly from the lower edge at each side, covers for the arms of the doll, said arm covers having triangular upper end portions which are overlayed on and secured to the head and trunk cover in such manner as to leave ventilating openings at the armpits, covers for the legs of the doll, said leg covers having wedge shaped slits extending downwardly from the upper edge at each side whereby the leg covers are secured to the trunk and head cover with the wedge shaped slits in abutting relation to form ventilating openings for the joined covers, separable means joining the arm and leg covers to the trunk and head cover, and a hair foundation removably mounted on the said head cover.

2. The device as described in claim 1, wherein said am covers have representations of hands thereomand said leg covers have representations of feet thereon.
