1 Claim. (Cl. 248-222) This invention relates broadly to curtain brackets and their supported rods whereupon curtains or draperies may be hung.
One object of my invention is to provide a curtain bracket which will have hooks formed therein for the purpose of anchoring tie-backs thereto, thereby eliminating the necessity of driving nails into the walls for support of the said tie-backs.
Another object of my invention is to provide a curtain bracket whose tie-back hooks could be easily located very close to the wall.
Another object is to provide a curtain bracket which is simple in design, pleasing to the eye, and simple to manufacture.
These and other objects may be discovered upon study of this specification and the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure l is a fragmentary perspective view of a casement window showing a modified form of the curtain bracket in operative use.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a cornice shown partly broken away and showing the curtain brackets attached thereto.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the modified form of the curtain bracket illustrated in Figures 1 and 2.-
Figure 4 is a view of the blanks from which the modified form of the curtain bracket is formed.
Referring to the drawings in detail, there is shown a right hand and left hand form of the curtain bracket, both of which are required to make up a singular unit for a casement window.
The invention includes a reinforcing member incorporated therein to give the curtain bracket rigidity. In detail the construction of this curtain bracket is as follows; the bracket is formed of two parts 19 and 20 which may be fastened together bv spot-welding or by rivets. Member 19 has at its upper end an L-shaped extension 21 made to be fitted into the corner of a cornice, as shown in Figure 2. Mounting holes 22 and 23 are provided therein Patented Dec. 28, 1954 "ice for fastening to the cornice. A vertical depending portion 24- is provided with tie- back hooks 25 and 26 formed therein. Member 20 has at its upper end a mounting hole 27 which is aligned with mounting hole 23 of member 19". Member 20 is provided with a bend 28 so that this member may generally lie fiat in relation to member l9 at its upper and lower points of contact. The L-shape at the upper end of member 19 is accomplished by a right-angle bend 29. It is to be understood that a right hand and a left hand form of the bracket is required for each window and this is accomplished by the direction in which bends 23 and 29 are made.
My invention is not limited to the constructions here shown, but may be modified to any form which will fit within the scope of the appended claim.
What 1 claim is:
A bracket for curtain tie-backs comprising an elongated vertical fiat member, said vertical member at the top thereof being integrally formed With a fiat horizontal portion at substantially right angles thereto, said horizontal portion being bent at its midpoint along a verti cal line into a substantially L-shaped configuration and adapted to fit within the corner of a cornice, said horizontal portion at each end having mounting openings therein, vertically spaced hooks struck out along one edge of said vertical member and adapted to support thereon the curtain tie-backs, and a reinforcing, elongated flat member connecting the end of said horizontal portion remote from said vertical member with the lower end of said vertical member, said reinforcing member at its lower portion lying flush with the inner face of said vertical member and being twisted through substantially ninety degrees at its upper end, the upper end of said reinforcing member having a mounting opening adapted to be aligned with said mounting opening in said horizontal portion, the lower end of said reinforcing member being secured to the lower end of said vertical member.
