However, this type of correcting device cannot give full satisfaction in the case of precision levels.
The present invention relates to an adjustable case for level tubes which in every way meets the requirements made of it for high-precision measuring purposes. l
This is wmade possible by the invention in that the tubular container is mounted at its one end to rotate in all directions round a certain point, whereas the other end has anI axially sprung bracket. This latter rests laterally on adjusting screws.
In the drawing three different constructional embodiments are exemplified, as follows:

Fig. 3 of a third constructional embodiment of the level case.
The level I is provided with an infusion mass 2 which is poured in a tubular container 3 and blocked. The water level casing 4 is provided with a longitudinal bore-hole 5 to hold the tubular container 3 with the level. The window 6 of the metal case, the window 1 of the tubular container and the window 8 cf the outer case fit in with each other and permit of observing the air-bubble 9 of the level. One end of the tubular container 3 rests, as shown in Fig. 1, by means of a ball-seating I against a ball-bearing II, which latter is in. turn mounted in a ball-seating I2 of the bore-hole 5. In the other end of the tubular container 3 a piston I3 is mounted in longitudinally adjustable position, with a conical head I4 at its end projecting from the tubular container. Between the end of the tube and the olset I of the conical head an elastic ring I5 is inserted which resiliently supports the cone. 'I'hree adjusting screws I1 are screwed into the water-level casing 4 radially to the cone axis in such a way that their tips touch the 4cone I4. The elastic ring I6 presses on the one han-d the tubular container 3 against the ball bearing II and on the other hand the cone I4 against the tins of the adjusting screws Il. In this way the tubular container is mounted at both ends without any play whatsoever and in totally immovable position. The level can be corrected. both in the inclination of the level to the horizontal and on f both sides. by screwing the individual adjusting screws I1 backwards and forwards.
4 Claims. (Cl. 33-214) VIn the case of the constructional embodiment shows in Fig. 2 the one end of the tubular container 3 is supported by means of a spherical cap I8 screwed on, against the hollow cone l2 of the bore-hole 5 of the water-level casing 4. For the sprung support of the cone I4 at the other end of the tubular container 3 a compression spring I9 is used, which rests on the one hand against the cone and on the other hand against a baseplate 20 inserted in the tubular container 3.
Fig. 3 shows a constructional embodiment in which the one end of the tubular container 3 bears a needle 22 provided with a spherical tip 2l and rests with this against a cone-seating 23 of the water-level casing 4. At the other end of the tubular container 3 a jacket 24 provided with a conical tip I4 is mounted in. longitudinally adjustable position. To support the cone jacket I4, 24 a compression spring I9 is again used, resting on the one hand against the cone and on the other hand against a base-plate 20 inserted in the tubular container 3.
While the form of embodiment of the invention as herein disclosed, constitutes a preferred form, it is to be understood that some changes may be made in the arrangement, construction and combination .of the various parts of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims such changes as may reasonably be included within the scope thereof.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a level, in combination, a body and a bubble tube carrier both formed with a bubble tube opening, a bubble tube, spherical seating means and conical counter-seating means arranged between said carrier and said body at one end of. and substantially coaxially with. said carrier, a conical member resiliently mounted at the onnosite end of, and substantially coaxially with, said carrier, and three setting screws adj-ustably and symmetrically seated in said body for engagement of their forward ends with said conical member.
2. In a level, in combination, a body and a bubble tube carrier both formed with a bubble tube opening, a bubble tube. a ball seated between a conical seat vwithin said body and a conical seat at one end of, and substantially coaxially with, said carrier. a conical member resiliently lmounted at the opposite end of. and substantially coaxially with, said carrier. and three setting screws adiustably and symmetrically seated in said body for engagement of their forward ends with said conical member.
3. In a level, in combination, a body and a 3 bubble tube carrier both formed with a bubble tube opening, a bubble tube, a globular end portion provided substantially coaxially with, and at one end of, said tube carrier, conical seating means at said body for reception of said globular portion, a conical .memberresiliently mountedat :the .op,
