The present invention relates to a hand glove, and, more particularly, to a dress glove.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a dress glove which is unslit and without any fastening means at the wrist.

It is also an object of the present invention to provide a glove of the character described which ts snugly and comfortably about-the wrist of the wearer.

`It is another object of the present invention to provide a glove of the character described which, though fitting snugly about the. wrist, when on the hand,v may, nevertheless, beeasily, conveniently and comfortably slipped on the. hand.

It is still another object of the present invention toy provide a glove of the character described having means associated with the wrist portion thereof for elastically engaging the wrist of the wearer in snug embrace.

It. isa further object of the present invention to provide a glove of the character described in which such. elastic Wrist engaging means is of neat and attractive appearance, constituting a decorative detail of the glove, and enhances the good appearance of the glove. A

It is a still further object of the present invention to.- provide a glove of the character described in which thev elastic wrist engaging meansl is.; of neat and simple construction; is highly eifective for its purpose; is durable and may be easily and economically incorporated into the glove construction.

The foregoing and other advantages and superiorities of the glove of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those skilled in the art from the embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing and from the description thereof following. It is to be understood, however, that such embodiment is shown by way of illustration only, to make the principles and practice of the invention more readily comprehensible, and without any intent of limiting the invention to the specific details shown.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the back of a glove embodying the elastic wrist engaging means of the present invention;

Fig. 2 is a similar View of the front of the glove, cut away at the wrist portion to show the interior details of construction; and

Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. l.

Referring more specifically to the accompanying drawing, the glove, generally designated as I0, may be of conventional construction and made of conventional materials, such as leather, cloth,

orthe like, either for mens or womens wear. The glove, I0, may comprise the back section, II, and the front section, I2, both having finger portions, I3 and I4, respectively, and wristV covering portions, I5 and I6, respectively, and joined together along their edges, as by.v side strips or panels, I'I.

In order to enable a glove of thev character to which the present invention relates to be slipped over the relatively wide palm portion ofthe hand, the glove must be of substantially the same Width at the wrist portion as at the palm portion. Such construction normally renders the glove loose and floppy on the hand', particularly about the wrist, uncomfortable to wear and unattractive in appearance.

While various efforts have been made in the past to restrict the wrist portion of suchl a glove, such efforts have not been satisfactory and have resulted in complicated and uncomfortable articles, unsuited for dress wear because of their clumsy and unattractive appearance.

I have, therefore, in the present invention, pro-v vided neat, comfortable, compact and attractive means for restricting such glove about the wrist. Such means comprises a pair of parallel, longitudinal, slits, I8, formed in the wrist portion, I5, of the glove back, II, spaced from one another and from the edges of the glove back. The edges of the slits, I 8, may be finished and reinforced, as by' buttonhole stitching, I9, and may be reinforced on the interior ofthe glove, as by the correspondingly slitted tabs, 20, secu-red in place by the stitching Il!` and by a second row of stitching, 2 I.

An elastic band, 22, of a width less than the width of the wrist portion, I3, of the back glove section, II, has its ends inserted into the slits, I8, and secured adjacent the edges of the glove back, I I, preferably by the same stitching, 23, which secures the glove back to the side strips, II.

A sleeve, 24, is tted freely and loosely over the central portion of the band, 22. Such sleeve may be of the same or contrasting or harmonizing material and color as the glove, I Il, enabling many and varied effects in the appearance of the glove. The length of the sleeve, 24, is greater than the distance between the slits, I8, so that the sleeve, 24, completely covers that portion of the elastic band, 22, which lies on the exterior of the glove, which would otherwise be exposed, and its ends, 25, are inserted through the slits, I8, into the interior of the glove, to insure permanent and complete covering of the elastic band, 22, and serving at the same time to provide a neat, finished and shape or appearance of the glove, as the elastic.

It will, likewise, be apparent that the elastic wrist restricting means of the present invention are simple, compact and add very little to the bulk of the glove; such addition to the bulk being solely on the outside face of the glove where it will cause the least discomfort and interference with the wearer.

It will, likewise, be quite apparent that the elastic wrist restricting means of the present invention does not in any way detract from the appearance of the glove; but that, on the contrary, it enhances and improves its appearance and affords an opportunity for providing greater variation in glove style and appearance, as heretofore explained.

This completes the description of one embodiment of a glove of the present invention. It will be evident from such description that many variations and modifications may be made in the glove of the present invention, by any one skilled in the art, in accordance with the principles thereof hereinabove set forth and without the use of any inventive ingenuity. I desire, therefore, to be protected for any and all such variations and modifications that may be made within the spirit of the present invention and within the scope of the claims hereto appended.

What I claim is:

l. A glove, including a back section having a wrist covering portion, said back section having a pair of openings formed therein at its wrist covering portion, said openings being spaced from one another and from the edges of the said back section, an elastic element of a length less than the width of the said ba'ck section at its wrist covering portion, said elastic element having a sleeve loosely tted thereon, said elastic 4 element having its ends inserted through the said openings into the interior of the glove and secured therein adjacent the edges of said back section.

A glove, including a back section having a. wrist covering portion, said back section having a pair of parallel, longitudinally disposed slits formed therein at its wrist covering portion, said slits being spaced from one another and from the edges of the said back section, an elastic element of a length less than the width of the said back section at its wrist covering portion, a' sleeve of a length greater than the distance between said slits loosely fitted over the central portion of the said elastic element, said elastic element having its ends inserted through said slits into the interior of the glove and secured thereto at a point adjacent the edges of the said back section, thereby constricting the wrist covering portion of the back section, said sleeve having its ends inserted into the interior of the glove, thereby covering the said elastic element.

A glove, including a back section having a wrist covering portion, said back section having a pair of openings formed therein at its wrist portion, said openings being spaced from one another and from the edges of the said back section, an elastic band of a length less than the width of the said back section at its wrist covering portion, a sleeve of a length greater than the distance between said openings loosely and freely tted over the central portion of the said elastic band, said elastic band having its ends inserted through the said openings into the interior ofl the glove and secured therein adjacent the edges of the said back section, whereby the wrist covering portion of the said back section is constricted, said slee've having its ends inserted into the interior of the glove, thereby covering the exposed portion of said elastic band.
