This invention relates to a water bottle holder for tape dispensing machine and comprises a continuation in part of my application Serial. No. 729,593, filed February 19, 1947., now U. S. Patent No. 2,548,834,, entitled Tape Dispensing Machine. A primary object of this invention is to provide a machine of this kind improved means of feeding water to the moistening element and for supporting a water bottle or reservoir.
A further object of the invention is to provide in combination a well, a tape moistening brush and a bottle supporting bracket fixed to the well, the well and the bracketbeing so constructed and arranged that when the bottle is in the bracket the weight of the bottle will tend to tilt the well and thereby maintain pressure from below on the tape through the brush.
. Still another object of the invention is the provision of means comprising an adjustable screw whereby the angle of inclination of the bottle may be varied relative to the well for the purpose of regulating the depth of water in the Well.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of an improved well having means for retaining a bottle in angular relation thereto whereby the necessity for providing a special type of bottle is eleminated.
Other objects will be in part obvious and will in part be pointed out as the description of the invention proceeds and shown in the accompanying drawings wherein there is disclosed a preferred embodiment of this inventive concept.

Referring to the drawings in detail there is generally indicated at ID a housing or frame generally similar to the housing or frame embodied in my prior Patent 2,406,418, issued August 27, 1946, for tape dispensing machine. The housing or frame includes a side wall I l and a tape feeding shaft 12 which extends through the side wall II and has secured to the outer end thereof a feeding gear l3. A drive or oscillatable shaft I4 is journalled in the housing [0, extending through the side wall I l and has loosely mounted thereon a drive gear l5. The drive gear I5 is adapted to be rotated in one direction only by clutch means, all as fully described in my above identified copending application.
The shaft M has fixed thereto a pair of elongatedplates ll, one of which has a bushing l8 which may be secured thereto in any desired manner. All of the above described parts and their parts and functions which comprise no portion of the instant invention are fully set forth in my co-pending application above mentioned.
The machine In is provided with an improved moistening means constituting the subject matter of the instant invention, embodying an upwardly opening rectangular well generally designated as 32. The well 32 includes front and rear walls 33 and 34, and opposite end walls 35 and 3S. Vertically positioned triangular ribs 31 extend from the bottom wall 38. The bristles 4zl of the brush 4!] are adapted to extend upwardly and forwardly, the bristles resting against the front wall 34 of the well 32 and contacting at their upper forward ends with a presser plate 42 of conventional construction. The tape is adapted to be moved between the lower side of the presser plate 42 and the ends of the bristles 4| for moistening the gummed lower side of the tape as it is moved forwardly. The well 32 is adapted to be provided with water which will be disposed at a predetermined level as will be hereinafter described.
The side wall 35 has extending therefrom an L-shaped channel 43 which communicates with the interior of the well 32. A bottle supporting bracket 44 is fixed to the rear wall 45 of the channel 43 and includes a vertically disposed bar 46 which is secured by fastening members 41 to the rear wall 45. An acutely disposed bracket arm 48 extends upwardly and rearwardly from the lower end of the bar 46 and has fixed thereto a transverse arcuate bottle supporting saddle 49.
A bottle 5| is adapted to be positioned in saddle 49 and has its mouth 52 positioned within the 68 channel 43; the position of the mouth 52 with respect to the channel 43 will determine the height of the water within the well 32. The well 43 is provided with an L-shaped top plate ll, one leg 12 of which overlies the connection between well 43 and well 34 and the other leg I3 of which overlies the outer wall of well 43. The edges of plate 'H extend inwardly to form a stop for the mouth 52 of bottle 5| to prevent excessive upward movement thereof. A screw 14 serves to hold plate H in position. The well 32 is adapted to removably engage on two right angularly disposed ledges of ledges 54 and 54 which are carried by the inner sides of the. housing [0. 'The housing I is formed with U-shaped. cutouts 55 in the side Walls thereof, within which the well 32 is adapted to removably engage. Preferably the well 32 loosely rests on the ledges 54 portion 43 nesting on ledge 54 and is adapted to be slightly tilted due to the weight of the saddle 49 and the bottle so that the bristles 4i will be under constant tension in order that they may frictionally contact the gummed side of the tape and this contact is maintained at all times by the tendency of the bottle 5| and the saddle 49 to tilt the forward end of the well 32 upwardly. In this manner the wearing down of the bristles 41 will be compensated by the upward tilting of the bristles under the Weight of the bottle 5| and the saddle 49.
A means is also provided for varying the angle of inclination of the bottle 5| relative to the bracket 44 and takes the form of a set screw 60 which extends upwardly through the connection 48 between the L-shaped channel 43 and the bottle supporting bracket 44.
As many embodiments may be made of this inventive concept and as many modifications may be made in the embodiment hereinbefore shown and described, it is to be understood that all matter herein is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
What I claim is:
In a tape dispensing machine a pair of side frame members, at least one of said frame members being formed with a forwardly opening slot, a ledge on the inner side of said one frame member on the lower horizontal edge of said slot, a tape moistening means including a well removably mounted on said ledge, an L-shaped channel member carried by said well extending outwardly through said slot with one side of said channel member projecting rearwardly, a transversely arcuate bottle supporting saddle, a bracket including a horizontal portion having a threaded.
aperture therein securing said saddle to the rear of said channel member in upwardly and rearwardly'inclined position, a water bottle engaging in said saddle, the mouth of said bottle extending downwardly and forwardly into said channel member whereby to maintain a predetermined water level in said channel member and said well, means for selectively varying the angle of inclination of said bottle relative to said saddle, said last mentioned means comprising a rotatable screw mounted in said threaded aperture in said horizontal portion of said bracket and abutting said bottle, and means comprising a separable plate extending over a portion of said channel for retaining the mouth of the bottle therein.
