Description
June 5, 1951 H. M. KORTH 2,555,890
' BRACELET AND UTILITY HOLDER Filed June 29, 1949 INVEN TOR. HAZEL M. KOR TH,
Patented June 5, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
My invention relates to a new design and useful improvements in jewelry items, particularly in bracelets.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a device in the form of a bracelet and purse holder.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a bracelet that is made of material that permits such bracelet to be snapped on the wrist for wearing same in safety.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a bracelet of the kind described that comprises two principal parts, the smaller or outside part hinged on the larger part and adapted to swing outward and away from the larger part and in the same plane as the larger part.
A further object of the invention is the pro vision of a bracelet as described, that is adapted for several diverse uses, one particular use being a holder for a pocket book, or similar article.
Other objects attainable in the use of the invention will be readily apparent from a reading of the description and a reference to the drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a view in elevation of the complete invention.
Fig. 2 is an edge view of the invention.
Fig. 3 shows the bracelet detached from the wrist, the larger part hooked or attached over the top of a table and the smaller part swung out fully from the larger part and supporting an item, such as a purse, on its lower portion.
Fig. 4 is an edge view of a segment of the invention showing a small part, hinged to the smaller part of the bracelet and opened for the purpose of supporting an item such as a purse.
In the drawings: l is the larger and major circular formed part of the bracelet, having the ends IB open for snapping around the wrist, the part 2 is onehalf the circumference of the part I forming the minor part and is attached on part I by means of the hinge 3, on the side of I opposite to the hinge 3 is a small protuberance IA which is adapted to receive the crimped part 2A of 2 for retaining 2 in proper position on I as shown in Fig. 1, A is a means of semi-circular form, attached to 2 by means of the hinge I and can also be used for supporting an item, such as a purse 6 when open, as shown in Fig. 4, 4 is retained on 2 in a closed position by the crimped portion 4A being pressed on and over the protuberance 8 on 2. The means 4 opens away from 2 on the hinge 1 in the same plane with 2.
The invention is designed to be used primarily as a bracelet with novel features that permits it to be used as a safe holder of a purse, or similar article. To use the device as a holder for a purse when for instance the wearer is seated at a table,
the device is removed from the wrist, the one end of part I is hooked over the table, and the part 2 is swung outward and downward from II in the position shown in Fig. 3 and in such position is available for supporting a purse, or similar items in a safe and eificient manner. The smaller means i maybe used for a purpose similar to 2 and without removing from the wrist, likewise 2 may be used for the purpose stated, as well as other purposes without removing from the wrist if so dc sired.
The invention may be made of plastic, in any desired color, or combination of colors, or of any desired and suitable material and in any width desired.
It will be observed from the drawings and description of the invention that it embodies new, novel, and useful features over other devices in the same class, however I wish it understood that modifications may be necessary in adapting it in use without departing from the basic features and the spirit of the invention.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A bracelet and purse holder, comprising a major and minor part, said major part consisting of a fiat resilient bar bent to arcuate form, the ends of said bar terminating in spaced apart reversely bent end portions to leave an opening between the said ends of said bar, whereby the said bar may be attached on a support by means of one of the open ends thereof, said minor part consisting of a flat resilient bar bent to semi-circular form, one end of said minor part being hingedly attached to the outer surface of said major part, a snap element on the opposite end of said minor part bar, a snap element on said major bar, said major bar and minor bar snap elements cooperating to form a closure means, said minor part in unsnapped position being adapted to swing outward of said major part.
