Description

' (No Model.) I
H F. STROBL.
Drag Saw.- .No.-243,'0O'4. Patented luher14yl881.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK STROBL, OF NAPOLEON, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO AUGUST F. WENZEL, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO. v
DLRAG-SAW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 243,004, dated June 14, 1881.
Application filed February 28, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK SrRoBL, of Napoleon, Ripley county, Indiana, have invented a new and useful Hand Sawing-Machine, of which the following is a specification.
In the aecompany'in g drawing a sawing-machine embodying my invention is represented in perspective. y
A represents a wooden frame, having two legs, B B, that rest upon the ground, and two shorter legs, 0 O, which terminate in spurs c c, that rest upon and are firmly driven into the log.
Pivoted in the frame is a swinging arm, D, to whose lower extremity is hinged the helve E of a orosscut-saw, F. The arm D is restricted to its proper path by slotted guide G on the frame.
Pivoted to arm D,rconsiderably nearer its point of suspension than the place of attachment of the saw-helve, is a pitman, H, whose other extremity engages with a crank, I, upon a shaft, J, a pinion, K, upon which meshes with spur-wheel L upon the shaft M of a winch,N. Attached to the shaft J is flywheel 25 I claim as new and of my invention A hand sawing-machine consisting offrame A, provided with legs B B and short legs 0 0, having spurs c c, the swinging arm D, saw F, coupled to the extremity of the arm, guide 0 Gr, pitman H, engaging intermediate portion of the arm, crank-shaft I J, pinion K, spur-wheel L, and winch M N, the whole being combined and operating as set forth.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto 5 set my hand.
FRANK STROBL. Witnesses:
GEO. H. KNIGHT,
SAML. S. CARPENTER.
