An elongated supporting member 34' having a fiat top and inwardly beveled side walls- 35and 36 is provided intermediate the innerside walls of blocks II and i2 and bel'ow'the' upper faces thereof as best shown in Figuresi) and 12 and serves as the support of the channel bar and the other elements during-compression of the channel side walls by the compression rods 20 and 2| during operation and as will hereinafter appear. porting member 34 are bushings 31 and'38 which cooperate with a plate 38 secured withincham' nel I1 and against the lower walls of blocks II and I2 as by screws 40 as best shown in Figure 10. Plate 39 permits vertical reciprocal movement of supporting member 34 but prevents longitudinal movement by the utilization of inher studs 4| and 42 for bushings 31 and 38. Each of the inner studs projects through an opening in plate 39 and terminates in a'screw head 43 of larger diameter than each of said openings in plate 39, the screw head 43 entering in lowermost position openings 44 injbase plate Ill. The press above described is adapted to integrate bar channel 45, servlceribbon 46, base plate 41 vand plate 48 carrying the, conventional pin, swivel and keeper, In using the press; channel 45 with cloth 46 folded therearound is in sorted on supporting member 34 as shown; in Figure 13- while the upper curved sides "20b and 2|b of the compression rods 2lland '2! are in maximum separated position, the lower walls 20b and 2lb supporting member 34 at the bottom wall.
