My invention relates to a device to hold a skirt and blouse in proper position on the person of the wearer.

The main object of the invention is to prevent a blouse from slipping out from underneath the skirt band, when the two garments are worn together.

Another object of the invention is to arrange means for keeping blouse and skirt in proper relationship to each other when being worn so that said means will be invisible.

Other objects of my invention may appear in the following specification describing my invention with reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part thereof. It is however to be noted that my invention is not to be limited or restricted to the exact construction and combination described in the specication and shown in the drawings but that such changes and modifications can be made which fall within the scope of the claim appended hereto.

In the drawings:

Figure 1 is an illustration of a part of my invention destined to be sewn on to the back of a blouse.

Figure 2 is an illustration of a second part of my invention destined to be sewn onto the back of a skirt band.

Figure 3 is an illustration of a part to be sewn onto the side of a blouse.

Figure 4 is an illustration of a part to be sewn onto the side of a skirt band.

Figure 5 is a sectional View showing the cooperating parts of my invention in position on a blouse and a skirt, and

Figure 6 is a sectional view taken on line t-B in Figures 1 and 2, the two parts illustrated in these ngures being shown in operative position.

Referring to the drawings a piece of twill tape I is folded lengthwise in the middle as shown at I i in Figure 5. The tape is sewn together, the ends of the tape being folded under. The length of the tape is preferably 3l/2 inches. As shown in Figure 1, three eyes are sewn onto the tape, one in the center and one of the other two adjacent each end of the tape. This tape is then sewn onto the back of a blouse, the eyes outside and the open end of the eyes up as shown at I2 in Figure 5.

Another piece of twill tape I3 is folded lengthwise in the middle and three pieces of elastic tape Ill, preferably 21/2 inches long are folded crosswise in the middle. The folded ends I of the elastic tape are arranged between the folded parts of the twill tape I3 and are fastened there by sewing these last named two folded parts and the elastic tape together. The ends of tape I3 are folded under before the sewing is done. The elastic tape is so arranged that the position of the folded over ends I5 in the twill tape I3 will correspond with the position of the eyes I2 on tape I0. Hooks I6 will be sewn onto the twill tape I3, the position of the hooks IB on tape I3 corresponding with the eyes I2 on tape I0. The hooks point downwardly and the upper end of the hooks are located below the tcp edge of twill tape I3.

Then another piece of twill tape II of the same length as the tapes I0 and I6 is folded lengthwise in the middle and the free ends I8 of the elastic tapes I 4 are placed between the folded over halves of tape Il' and these halves and the elastic tapes are sewn together. The ends of tape I0 are folded under before the sewing is done.

The tape Il is sewn onto the back of a skirt band on the inside as shown at I9 in Figure 5. The tape I3 supporting the hooks I6 is then located above the tape I3` and is loose. The hooks I0 are located so that they can engage the eyes I2.

Tape I'I is sewn onto the skirt band so that the top edge of twill tape I3 will be located approximately 1/2 of an inch below the top edge of the skirt band and that the hooks I0 will be in position to engage the eyes I2 when the garments are worn together.

In Figure 3 another combination of a twill tape 20 and eyes 2| is shown and this combination is put together exactly in the same way as the combination shown in Figure 1 and described above. The only differences between the two combinations are that the one shown in Figure 3 has a shorter twill tape and that preferably only two eyes are used. Of this combination two are required and one of them is sewn onto each side of blouse at the same level as the combination shown in Figure 1.

In Figure 4 a combination of a twill tape 22, elastic tapes 23, a second twill tape 24 and hooks 25 is illustrated and this combination is put together exactly like the one shown in Figure 2 and described above, but the twill "tapes 22 and 24 are of the same length as the length of twill tape 20 in Figure 3 and only two hooks 25 are preferably used. Of this combination two are also required and one of them is fastened on a skirt band at each side thereof. They are fastened to the skirt band by sewing the tape 24 onto it so that the top edge of the other tape 22 will be located at the same level as the top edge of the combination shown in Figure 2, and that the hooks 25 will be in position to engage the eyes 2I on the blouse.

From the above description it will be understood that a blouse, equipped with the eye arrangement according to my invention, Worn in combination with a skirt having my hook arrangement thereon, can be secured against slipping out of the skirt band, and it will be further understood that blouses and skirts can be easily and cheaply fitted out with the equipment of my invention.

Having described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

Means for retaining the bottom of an upper garment within a lower garment Waist band comprising a doubled over strip of tape attachable to one of said garments, strips of elastic webbing spaced apart longitudinally of said tape strip and extending outwardly from the open longitudinal edge of the latter, each of said elastic strips being secured near one end between the folds of said tape strip, a second, double over tape strip spaced from said first mentioned tape strip and substantially parallel to the latter, the ends of said elastic strips opposite said first mentioned tape strip being secured between the folds of said second tape strip, a third, doubled over tape strip attach- 4 able to the other of said garments, and separable fastener components secured on said second and third tape strips to detachably connect the portion of said retaining means attachable to one garment to that portion of the retaining means attachable to the other garment.
