MOP CLEANER AND HOLDER Filed Oct. 1S, 1945 Inventor @www Patented Feb. 8, 1949 SEARCH ROOM 'UNITED sTATEs PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
My invention relates to sanitation and has for its object to provide a combined iioor mop cleanser and container.
Another object of this invention is to provide a device within which to contain a mop when not in use.
A further object of the invention is to provide a mop cleaner and container which may be readily knocked down for shipping and storage purposes and quickly set up for use.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a mop container having perforated means for supporting the mop.
Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of my mop holder.
Figure 2 is a transverse vertical sectional view thereof,
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view, parts being broken away.
In the accompanying drawings as above enumex-ated and in the following specication, wherein like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout, I I'I indicates my mop holder, which consists of a diamond-shaped container II, having substantially rectangular end walls I2 and I3, and inclined lower walls I4 and I5, which join at their lower ends I6, and form a V-shaped receptacle I'I. Upon the inner surfaces of the walls I4 and I5, is supported a rack I8, whose longitudinal sides are turned down at an acute angle to conform to the inclination of said walls I4 and I5, whereby said walls support the rack removably.
The top wall or fixed top member 2I, is fixed to the inner sides of the hips 22 and 23, which constitute upwardly converging edges of the said rectangular end walls. The closure or movable top member 2I, is hinged at 25, to the upper edge of the wall I5. The said top members 2I and 24, are provided with cut-outs or notches 26 and 21, which coact to form an opening or slot for the handle of the mop to project through. The edges of the said walls I4, I5 and 2I, are provided with projecting flngers 30, which extend through apertures 32 in the said end walls and are provided with bores 34, through which dowel pins 21 are projected in order to hold the several walls of the device together, no nails or screws being required for this purpose.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a mop holder and cleansing device within which a mop can be inserted and moved backwnrds and forwards upon the partition or rack I8, in order to agitate the mop to relieve the same of any dust and debris that may cling thereto which debris will drop to the bottom of the container and the mop may be held in the container when not being used.
It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.
Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.
Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:
A mop cleaner and holder comprising a receptacle having a dust receiving base, `a reticulated partition supported upon the walls of said base, a cover for said holder including an upwardly inclined top member overlying a portion of said base, a second upwardly inclined top member hinged to said base, said top members having a conterminous edge above the longitudinal center line of said base and a mop handle receiving slot in said conterminous edge whereby a mop handle may be moved and retained therein while a mop is scraped and rests upon said reticulated partition, said slot being disposed intermediate and longitudinally of said cover and comprising complementary notches in the adjacent edges of said top members, said mst-mentioned top member being rigidly secured to said receptacle and said second-mentioned member abutting the edge of said first-mentioned top member in their closed position.
