This invention appertains to new and useful improvements in building constructions and more particularly to a house constructed for the purpose of providing the fullest ventilation.

The principal object of the present invention is to provide a house or cabin which while provided with a screened roof and side walls is also provided with weather impervious coverings which may be quickly disposed in place upon the occurrence of bad weather.

Another important object of the invention is to provide a ventilated house, ventilated to the extent of having all sides and the roof open and wherein weather impervious coverings are provided which may be quickly disposed into closed position by electric motive means.

Still another important object of the invention is to provide a house or cabin provided with screened side walls and roof and coverings therefor, and means whereby the coverings may be operated to screen-covered position operated by electric motive means and wherein said motive means may be controlled by a switch located besides the occupants bed so that he need not get out of bed to operate the closures in the event a storm comes up at night.

Various other important objects and advantages of the invention shall become apparent to the reader of the following description.

Figure 1 represents a front elevational view of the house with portions broken away.

Figure 2 is a top plan view with a portion of the roof covering removed.

Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary outside elevational view.

Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals designate like parts, it can be seen that the cabin may be built on a platform 5 and this includes a floor 6 (see Figures 1 and 3). Rising from the platform are corner posts 8 and studdings 9. Rafters ID are provided for the roof in conjunction with the ridge member ll. Interposed between the ridge member II and the rafters ID are sectional screens l2 which, of course, may be removed when the need occurs.

Between the studdings 9 are horizontal dividers l3 which serve to divide the side walls of the house into an upper and a lower row of openings filled by upper and lower screens It. Over the upper and lower screens l4 are weather impervious closures l5, l6, respectively. It is preferable that a weather impervious door I1 be provided, but, of course, this door may also be screened and provided with some readily placeable weatherproofing shield.

As shown in Figures 3 and 4, inside of the house or cabin and at the upper portions of diagonally opposite corners are electric motors l8, IS, the motor 18 by gears 20 driving rolls 2|, 2! on one shaft and another roll 22 on another shaft. Ropes 23 are wound on these rolls as well as on rolls 24, 24, 25 driven by the motor l9 through gears 26. The ropes 23 extend over suitable guide means to the free edges of the closures I5, (see Figure 1). From the anchoring point for the rope 23 at the lower end of each closure l5 extends a chain 25' to the free lower edge of the underlying closure l6.

Under the eaves of the roof construction are rolls 26, 21 and these rolls are on shafts 28, 29, each of which at one end is geared to a shaft 30 and the shafts 30 in turn are geared, as at 3|, to be driven by an electric motor 32.

On the roll 26 an elongated canvas sheet 33 is normally wound and from the outer end of i this sheet, ropes 34 extend to wind on the roll 21 and pull the sheet 33 across the roof from said roll 26. The motor 32 is of the reversible type. Hence, the roll 26' can be operated so as to rewind the sheet thereon and uncover the roof.

In the use of this house or cabin, it can be seen that in going to bed at night, the occupant may roll off the canvas covering 33, allowing air to pass through the screens l2. The closures [5 are, of course, elevated by operating the motors l8, [9, to the dotted line position shown in Figure 1. The ropes 23 pull up the closures I5 while the chains 25' extending from the free edge of the closure Hi to the free edges of the closures [5 will pull up on the lower closure.

If during the night, or in fact, any other time, a storm arises, the occupant need only manipulate switches in order to energize the motors l8, l9 and 32, with the result that in a moment's time the roof is covered over by the water proof canvas sheet 33 and the closures l5 and iii are disposed in place over the screens [4. This quickness in closing'the house is particularly desirable at night when the occupant is in bed. As a matter-offact, it is not necessary for the occupant to get out of bed if he has the control switch or switches adjacent his bed.

While the foregoing specification sets forth the invention in specific terms, it is to be understood that numerous changes in the shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.

Having described the invention, what I claim is:

1. In a building construction, a roof, said roof being open and provided with screens covering the opening, rolls on opposite sides of the building, a canvas roof covering wound on one of the rolls and provided with elongated flexible members extending therefrom and wound on the other roll, whereby the winding of the canvas on one roll uncovers the. roof opening and winding oi said flexible member-sonthe other 120111 covers: 10 Number;
